One of my top LinkedIn tips is to find posts about jobs as opposed to simply searching the job board on LinkedIn. This allows you to: 1. Identify jobs that were recently posted. 2. Verify that the team is actually hiring for that role. 3. Know who to contact about your application. Have you tried this approach? Let me know how it worked for you!

I do this every week and in my experience (over the last 6 months) have only found decent jobs a couple of times. Majority of the posts that populate when I do this are either complete scams or just a list of jobs that someone pulled from all the other job boards. In theory, it seems it would help a lot but in reality it just doesn’t normally give many useful results. Again, this is just my experience.

I did all of this and still wasn't seeing much response, so I got bold and have been messaging hiring managers (not recruiters) after applying, and have had a 67% response rate. I'm on a 3rd interview with one company and final interview with another. I'm still applying because this is a competitive market but I feel a lot more confident reaching out directly about these roles.

I’ve tried it and was told that reaching out doesn’t make any difference. It did help me identify who was actually hiring, though, although i noticed that a lot of recruiters won’t post that they’re hiring on their page.

Thank you for the post. I have tried this before months ago, I thought I was a genius when I thought how can I just filter out the posts that have “we’re hiring”. Its a way you to learn about others companies and the people who work there This is great information. Maybe make another post speaking upon what you’d say to the person who made the post as an interested job seeker. Sometimes hiring managers and people who post those types of posts do not respond in your DMs. But that’s okay too because I also do cold email outreach 😉

This sounds like a potentially great idea for junior and mid level roles. Of course, executive positions typically aren't advertised at all so the only way to find them is through networking or direct recruiter outreach.

Hi Muhammad Younis, (via Bonnie Dilber post)- Thanks for wanting to connect with me. The closest location of my business network to your home country of Pakistan, is India. If you wish to learn more about what we do to help raise the standard of living for families after eliminating debt, it would be in the understanding our organisation is currently not able to undertake business in Pakistan currently (Aug '24). I hope you find the help and support you need.

I've tried to do that many times and I still get nothing.

Do people post about fake postings as well? This definitely would have a 'hire' hit rate (pun intended 😉) but I would expect similar pitfalls in some industries, at least. A friend posted an article about 'ghost jobs' yesterday, and your video made me think of this question?
