Employees want support and respect from their leaders, according to a study by Donald Sull and Charles Sull. Study results also indicated that employees credit or blame the C-suite for the state of the corporate culture. This puts a spotlight on the critical role of strategic communications as a global leadership competency to build a corporate culture of trust and respect. Collective Leadership Competencies in Workplace Over the years, leadership is seen as a relationship between two social individuals, that is, the leader and the followers. However, the need to re-conceptualize leadership in a pluralized approach from the top-down to the collaborative approach in the workplace is apt. Recent theories claim that leadership does not reside exclusively in the leader but is also a property of the collective and thus has both individual and collective qualities. Collective leadership also signals the importance of shifting attention from the single leader to the emergent processes and practices that help employees interact and advance a common goal unattainable by themselves.  

🔅 The power of relationships in leadership! This week's #LinkedInLearning course assigned by Ryan W. Longnecker, EdD, DBA, discussed the significance of building relationships in leadership. Taking a genuine interest in people and their work fosters mutual and shared workplace commitments, builds trust, and encourages collaboration and teamwork. Other 🔑 key 🔑 takeaways include fostering meaningful communication and managing conflict strategically to encourage creativity and motivation in the workplace. For the 2024-2025 school year, I aim to strengthen current relationships at the Bayonne Board of Education and establish new ones with colleagues across different departments.
