Culture Is Set from the Top: Leading by Example I'd like to thank Suken Jain for having me on his podcast, The Sync Leadership Lab, where I had the opportunity to share how true leadership influences company culture. Leadership sets the tone for the culture within an organization. Back in 2018, Tom Olsen, Joe Day, and John vanDyck showed me a perfect example of this. Their approach not only influenced me personally but also shaped my professional outlook. They did something "bizarre. . ." They actually cared. Company culture is shaped more by leaders' actions than by their words. I've had the privilege of working with some remarkable leaders who truly cared for their teams and showed it every day. We saw an era of churn where non critical software was ripped out from the enterprise app stack. Amid increased scrutiny, companies are pushing their CS team harder than they have ever been pushed before. CS teams today are spread way too thin. It has become extremely pressurizing for them to perform and be on top of their game. When we started working on AppEQ.ai, we wanted to focus on something that has perhaps not come under the limelight as much- the cascading impact on the productivity of the CSMs. Three things that companies need to undertake with immediate effect to maximize the velocity with which CSMs can execute. 🔨 Break silos- unfortunately i have faced this personally at my workplace where a lot of the information resided with teams that were doing the technical work and not very forthcoming with information. As a functional vertical, CS velocity and CS effectiveness is heavily dictated by the degree of collaboration across different departments.  CS leaders need to all the more take a proactive approach in conjunction with the org leadership to break down silos and facilitate collaboration 🤝 Focus on functional enablement - When the stakes are high and there is a lot of pressure, it is easy for CSMs to slip into firefighting mode and take on a more reactive approach to maintain their book of business. This is essentially the most dangerous slippery slope for the account engagement and the CSMs themselves - the true ruh-roh moment. It might seem easy and logical for CSMs to go into tactical mode, but it will not only take time away from being the strategic advisor they’re supposed to be, but also take their sight away from the bigger picture if they’re too into the weeds. While a certain level of hands-on approach is necessary and recommended, companies and CS leaders need to ensure that the long-term perspective is not lost amid short-term chaos. 👩💻 Streamlining the tech stack- Today, there’s an application available for every task under the sun. CSMs today are facing software fatigue amid all their other responsibilities. They are wasting precious time in diving through records to get the right actionable insights. As such, CS leaders need to also consider investing in the right tools to maximize their CS team’s efficiency.  We at AppEQ.ai are trying to solve this exact problem for you.
