Last year And Marketing was a finalist for a record-breaking four awards! Entering awards is a brilliant way to get away from the office and meet local businesses whilst strengthening your brand image. Awards typically happen throughout the year, with the majority in Q4. Now is your time to plant the seeds for winning some awards in 2024. It is time to shout from the rooftops all the great things you are doing within your industry. It is a great idea to map out when your relevant awards are held, find out which awards you qualify for, or what you need to do in order to win them! Then you need to spend time on the entry. Remember, it is not always about the winning. It is a great exercise to showcase your business, build trust and gain some external PR.

Why bother with Awards? Are you a marketer? Part of an advertising agency, comms or media agency? Thinking about whether it's worth putting the entry forms together. Here’s a question. If something is the right thing to do, how patient should you be? Our first exchange with the Effie board was on February 25th, 2011. Since then, we have talked about this alliance with various leaders of the brand across the years, but it takes some true vision (I mean you Jae Goodman and you Traci Alford) to get over the numerous hurdles to make this a reality. Marketers, brands, agencies — everyone in our business — need creativity and effectiveness to align and this will help that happen more than ever. Lesson of the day: good things come to those who wait. A million “Thank yous” to the amazing Ascential and Effie teams who worked tirelessly to unite our brands.
