In March, the German company Bosch Slovensko ends the production of electric motors for 🚲 bicycles in #Slovakia. A capacity adjustment or a reaction to the changed political landscape following the elections? The facts: In February, Bosch informed associates at the plant in Záborské that production will be stopped from March 2024. 400 employees will lose their jobs. The production of electric motors for bicycles will continue in Miskolc, 🇭🇺 Hungary. Bosch: The demand for eBikes has not developed as expected and the excessive capacities are now being reduced. 🇸🇰 Slovakian politicians: The change of government in Bratislava has hindered communication and the changed political situation has put BOSCH off. In my view, there are three reasons why I believe that BOSCH's reasoning is correct and that there are no political reasons for the closure. ➡️ the demand for eBikes declined after the CORONA boom ➡️ Bosch produced in Slovakia in a rented hall, in Hungary they own buildings ➡️ a relocation to Hungary would hardly have taken place How important do you consider the political direction of the government for your investment decision? Third and final stop – China 谢谢 After more than 10 years, I had the chance to come back to China. It's unbelievable what the digital wind of change has done here - Digitalization has had a huge impact both in private lives and in the business context and has brought about changes that have made things possible that we could only dream of years ago. This also applies to us at Schaeffler. We have an organization here on site that is passionate about Digitalization, that unlocks our digital potential and develops suitable digital solutions. The team around our regional CIO Hǎiguāng Lǐ ensures that our processes are ideally integrated with the regional circumstances and that we think, shape and act Digitalization holistically. In our plants, our colleagues work with the Operations team to consistently digitalize everything - paper is almost history here. Our smart products integrate seamlessly into the digital ecosystem in China and together with our divisions, we are developing new customized solutions for the Chinese market, such as our ETC platform or our Intelligent Lifetime Solutions. Not to forget, our employees can effectively collaborate with both global Schaeffler colleagues and Chinese business partners thanks to the digital workplace. Together with the power of the digital ecosystem in China with companies like Alibaba, Huawei or H3C, we can take Digitalization at Schaeffler to the next level. Together with our CIO Marc Votteler, I was not only able to experience Digitalization, but also gained exciting and impressive insights into Chinese culture and was able to enjoy Chinese cuisine. In our westernized perception, much of what happens in China is often seen negatively - I am sure that we can manage to combine the best of both worlds and not only further unlock our digital potential at Schaeffler, but also move closer together as people. Let´s take Diversity an opportunity, not as a risk. In the end, we are all human beings and if we treat each other respectfully and openly, different cultures and perspectives are not an obstacle, but an opportunity to broaden our own horizons and shape a better future together. Thank you very much for the wonderful days in Shanghai, Suzhou and Hangzhou to all the colleagues from Schaeffler China! Now I'm looking forward to being back home with my family, friends and German colleagues, but I'm sure I'll be back here soon. 再见 #Schaeffler #Digitalization #BestOfBothWorlds #UnlockOurDigitalPotential #TomorrowHasAlreadyStarted

Japan's roadside land values saw a record increase, driven by tourism and shifts in the semiconductor supply chain. The popularity of Japan’s powder snow has drawn global investor interest in its ski resort areas and already driven up land values in places like Niseko in the northern island of Hokkaido. Japan’s bid to boost domestic chip production has helped draw the likes of TSMC to Kumamoto. The world’s largest contract chipmaker is planning to building a second chip fabrication plant near the existing factory, with operations scheduled to begin by the end of 2027. https://lnkd.in/eZzc6b7v

El Salvador, a country that has demonstrated itself as a beacon of change and transformation in Central America. It's truly remarkable to witness the social progress and positive impact it has had on the economy and businesses over the past decade. Today, we see that a significant portion of distribution channels, such as large-scale retail, have been modernized. Here, they offer self-service models, rentals, and a wide variety of brands competing in price, proposal, and innovation. Bosch power tools has accompanied this development and has solidified its strength in the industry where it is its nature. Nowadays, the Bosch brand enjoys excellent brand recall and reputation among consumers. We observe a studious youth, eager to grow and integrate into this new advancement. Large and intelligent tourism projects, capitalizing on the country's conditions, are underway, generating opportunities in machinery and equipment for infrastructure. Additionally, investments in technology and education are also evident. Congratulations to the people of El Salvador and President Bukele, who has been the driving force behind these changes. #boschpowertools #boschcentralamerica #bosch #elsalvador

#ThoughtsofaCEO As CEO of PWO Group I am delighted to share insights from my recent visit to Auto China. I was thoroughly impressed by the sense of enthusiasm and optimism both within the exhibition halls and on the bustling streets of Beijing. The unveiling of numerous world premieres offered fascinating glimpses into the visionary endeavors of Chinese OEMs in shaping the future of #mobility. Once again, #China reaffirmed its pivotal role and influence in the global #automotive industry. It was a pleasure to explore diverse perspectives with Hildegard Müller (President of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA)), Gary G. (CEO of PWO China) and David Xu (CEO of Bosch China). The sheer size of the Chinese market undeniably demands attention: With 25.8 million new registrations in 2023, it nearly rivaled the combined scale of the European and US markets. This underscores the indispensable nature of China within the automotive industry, a reality that cannot be overlooked by anyone who wants to be a global leader in our industry. As Chinese OEMs and their supply chains are vigorously challenging European OEMs with their innovative strength and speed, we should welcome this spirited competition and use the momentum coming from China to in some areas catch up again and in other areas strengthen our own competitive advantages. Of course, there are many challenges that require an open dialogue and a joint effort to deal with different perspectives. Embracing protectionism e.g. by implementing import duties is a counterproductive stance. Fostering a climate of robust competitiveness is of paramount importance for the sustainable vitality of the industry. However, such endeavors hinge upon a supportive policy framework. Time is of the essence. The German government and European politicians must finally make strengthening domestic industry their priority. It puzzles me that despite the increasingly urgent pleas from industry stakeholders, by now even in alignment with labor unions, the German government and the EU remain hesitant to heed these calls. #Germany requires the best framework conditions worldwide as an industrial location in order to seize the opportunity to lead the automotive industry into a future characterized by innovation, sustainability and growth. #PeoplePlanetProgress #automotiveindustry

Great article on the possibilities, case examples and misconceptions about expanding Finnish Business to France! France is the second largest economy in the EU and Europe’s most attractive destination for foreign direct investment (2023), 5th time in a row. While Finland is known in France for it’s nature, Finland and Finnish companies would benefit from marketing themselves and all the high-tech solutions and clean transition innovations better - not to forget food and culture exports, where we also have a lot to offer! The article interviews Jussi Palola from Virta Ltd - a global pioneer in developing smart electric vehicle charging services. The company had followed the French market and business environment for electric cars and entered the market ten years ago. Now France is one of the biggest markets for the company, who was listed in the Financial Times 1000 Europe's Fastest Growing Companies again in 2024. Time to roll up our sleeves and go into Business with the French! https://lnkd.in/dwKj2EVf 💡This webinar focused on Finnish-French opportunities in Photonics could also be a place to start: https://lnkd.in/eFvMvCKr We at Business Joensuu Oy help companies in the Joensuu region with internationalization. 🇫🇮🇫🇷 #businessjoensuu #investinfrance #photonics #internationalbusiness #businessfinland

Technology Influencer, Introducer & Explainer. Heat Treatment & Parts Cleaning. FOKA ENGINEERING, President
An example of propaganda, well known in Eastern Europe from the dismal communist era. The president, an infamous remnant of the old days of the criminal state organized in Poland by PiS, visits the president of the communist regime and calls him a friend and the "national newspapers" froth to the skies. In a second article, the same newspaper praises the achievements of a Chinese company and its Chinese president brags about them. In Poland and in Europe. This point I must unfortunately correct. Not a single one of these technologies is of Chinese authorship. Most date back to the 1990s when GM produced its first electric car: the EV1. These ideas were later implemented in Europe by ACG and its successor Delphi Automotive Systems, many of whose divisions were much later sold off by the profit-maximizing, U.S.-based management of the bankrupt General Motors. These divisions, among them Delphi Chassis, were sold to other U.S. companies, which had sprung up a few days before these deals like mushrooms, as if on order (!). American companies, but with Chinese capital! Didn't the Americans at General Motors know this? I doubt. We sold and implemented these technologies in Europe at Daimler-Chrysler, Audi, BMW and many others, because for the Opel or Vauxhall brands, they were still too expensive. The development of these cutting-edge technologies continued at the Technical Centers in Paris and Krakow, as well as at the production facilities in Cadiz and Krosno. I am writing this as the person who directed the buyout of the Krosno plant from the VI national fund in the 1990s, later responsible for locating, then the largest technical center (600 engineers) in Europe, in Krakow (Spain and Austria were our competitors) and then directing the implementation of some of these technologies at Mercedes and BMW. Other colleagues were responsible for Audi, Porsche and Ferrari. There is not a single Chinese technology in all of these innovations!
Ongoing Polish President, Mr Andrzej Duda, visit in China, creates a special opportunity not only for bringing Sino-Polish relations to a higher level but also for China Daily insight into BWI Group's entities located in Poland: Technical Center Kraków - state-of-the-art research and development unit and Krosno Plant - the largest BWI Group's plant in Europe, which celebrates 80th anniversary this year. "Chōshu Five: Pioneers of Japan's Modernization" The image captures the "Chōshu Five," a group of five Japanese students who journeyed to Britain in 1863 to immerse themselves in contemporary technology and engineering. This strategic move was a crucial part of Japan's drive to modernize during the Meiji era after being isolated for centuries. These individuals were instrumental in transferring essential technical and scientific knowledge back to Japan, significantly aiding the transformation of the nation from a relatively undeveloped state into a robust industrial and scientific powerhouse. Celebrated for numerous groundbreaking achievements, they catalyzed Japan's swift advancements across various sectors: - Endo Kensuke (standing back left): Dubbed the "Father of Economics and Printing." - Inoue Kaoru (sitting front left): Known as the "Father of Diplomacy." - Inoue Masaru (center): Referred to as the "Father of Iron and Railways." - Itō Hirobumi (standing back right): Called the "Father of the Cabinet." - Yamao Yuzo (front right): Recognized as the "Father of Engineering." Their focus was not on promoting Western culture but on integrating necessary technologies and methods for Japan's modernization. Their dedicated efforts led to radical transformations and the establishment of new systems that leveraged the latest global advancements, turning Japan into a modern empire. #history #modern
