I've heard lately from a number of folks in higher ed that they are white-knuckling it right now, hoping to just make it through commencement. Understandable, especially after the year we've all had! But putting some energy toward preparing for commencement (and for the fall semester, too) can make a world of difference in the success that colleges and universities will have in advancing their educational missions and supporting their students. This article offers some good advice.
RWJ's Sean Rossall talks with The Chronicle of Higher Education on commencement preparation when it comes to concerns about protests: “The schools that will be the most successful are going to be the ones that address the elephant in the room before commencement ceremonies get underway.”

Title: Netanyahu's Hypocrisy: Mislabeling Student Protests as 'Antisemitic' In a blatant display of hypocrisy, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has resorted to baseless accusations, labeling US student protests as 'antisemitic' and calling for their cessation. Netanyahu's desperate attempt to silence legitimate dissent exposes his disregard for democratic values and his determination to suppress any criticism of his government's actions. Netanyahu's condemnation of the pro-ceasefire rallies as 'horrific' demonstrates his utter contempt for the principles of free speech and peaceful protest. By equating criticism of Israeli policies with antisemitism, he not only seeks to deflect attention from his administration's egregious human rights violations but also undermines genuine efforts to combat antisemitism worldwide. Moreover, Netanyahu's brazen attempt to vilify student activists reflects his fear of losing support and credibility on the international stage. Rather than engaging in meaningful dialogue and addressing the root causes of the conflict, he resorts to divisive rhetoric and baseless accusations in a desperate bid to cling to power. Netanyahu's actions also reveal his hypocrisy when it comes to advocating for freedom of expression. While he champions the right to criticize other nations, he hypocritically seeks to silence dissent when it comes to his own government's actions. This double standard exposes his true agenda: maintaining power at any cost, even if it means trampling on the rights of others. Furthermore, Netanyahu's attacks on student protests underscore his disregard for the role of universities as hubs of intellectual inquiry and social change. Rather than engaging with the legitimate concerns of young people advocating for divestment from the arms trade, he seeks to delegitimize their activism and silence their voices.
