Eight months on, the full future impact of the Dugald River Mine tragedy remains to be seen, but we must remain hopeful that the industry will learn lessons and implement better safety standards. The industry must not accept fatalities as the cost of doing business, and as more details will inevitably be revealed in the coming months and years, the true value of the industry will be seen in the changes it makes to prevent the next loss of life. https://lnkd.in/gqZpjKDB #mineaustralia #miningtechnology #qldmining #DugaldRiver #minesafety #bradwtaylor

Global Business Executive | Driving Strategic Growth, M&A, and Large-Scale Projects | Managing Director at K+S Salt Australia | K+S Ambassador | Excited for the Future
𝗗𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗵𝘀, 𝘀𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘆! If you've ever watched mining operations in the Pilbara, you'll know graders are a common sight, shaping and maintaining roads with precision. They'll be just as vital at K+S Salt Australia’s future Ashburton Salt site. But, did you know they play a crucial role beneath the surface too❓ Underground at K+S Group's salt and potash mines, graders take on a different form. Their job? To ensure the roads underground are level and compact, essential for safe and efficient operations. ⚒️ But here's the kicker – due to the low ceilings down below, these machines are designed to be, let's say, a bit more 'compact'. It's a different world underground. The space is tighter, the roads are carved from the salt deposit itself, and the machines are made to fit like a glove. #kplusUs #faszinationbergbau #AshburtonSalt #SolarSalt #Mining

#Stacks and #impoundments - AssetAssurance Monitoring Tailings and Impoundments Reflectance Index Service view of a Florida mine One of 27 operating Phosphate operations (below). Thousands of acres of wetlands and marsh areas are under operations for 3 major Phosphate mining operators in Central Florida (Polk, Hillsborough, Manatee and Hardee counties). Communities nearby and adjacent to operations can benefit from awareness and ongoing #monitoring of the structures and assets - that are in, and out of production. Legacy "stacks" are up to 200 feet high and have a history of slope and structural challenges. #TIRI Services monitoring can keep operators, community managers, and citizens "in the know" as local conditions, exposure to extreme weather, and changing precipitation patterns affect seasons and long term outlooks. The "Funnel Effect". Many mines that transition from open-pit to underground have to ensure their pump stations have enough capacity to cater for high rainfall and rapid ice melt events. Our GSB Self-Balancing multistage pump for dirty water is the pump-of-choice for these types of applications as they can handle up 1800 m3/hour, or 8000 GPM, at 1600 m or 5200 ft.. All while running at a hydraulic efficiency of up to 83 %, ensuring the power demand stays low.
Open pits are having to transition to underground operations to reach the deep level reefs. With this transition, comes the need to dewater the mine. Giffen Consulting, in collaboration with Scamont Engineering , boast many years of deep-level underground mine dewatering experience. This has led us to develop products to suit any underground mine dewatering application, from low volume, high head to high volume, high head applications for both clear and dirty water management. We are well-positioned to assist any mining operation with their dewatering requirements, as they transition from open pit to underground. Reach out to us if you need assistance with your operation. #mining #dewatering

Here's a quick overview of our Pine Grove property, located in the Walker Lane Mineral Belt in Nevada: ⛏ Land: Lincoln controls 100% mineral interest over 7.2 sq miles in the Pine Grove district, NV, including Wheeler mine and 243 unpatented claims with significant gold mineralization. ⛏ Previous Work: Teck Resources invested $2.2M in the 1990s, conducting extensive drilling and mapping. Lincoln holds all their technical data. ⛏ Lincoln's Efforts: From 2008-2010, Lincoln drilled core holes and conducted metallurgical testing with excellent results. Environmental surveys and permitting ongoing. New gold-copper soil anomalies identified warrant further drilling. ⛏ Economic Assessment: A 2011 PEA by Telesto Nevada Inc. shows positive prospects for open-pit mining and heap leach operation at Pine Grove. Lincoln filed an Amended and Restated NI 43-101 Preliminary Economic Assessment for the Pine Grove project in February 2015. Since 2016, drill programs, survey work, geotechnical work, a field exploration program that identified new target areas at the project, and other production permitting work have been conducted at Pine Grove. Wafi-Golpu Mine Requires Consent from Coastal Communities for Pipeline Construction The Wafi-Golpu mine cannot commence construction of its deep sea tailings placement (DSTP) pipeline without obtaining Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) from the coastal communities of Labuta, Salamaua, Ahi and Wampar. These communities are within a 30-kilometre radius of the DSTP fallout area and have Natural Property Rights to their resources which will be at risk due to the adverse impact of the DSTP. The Environmental Impact Statement for the mine lacks social, economic and environmental baseline data for these communities. This data must be produced before mining commences to ensure appropriate compensation in case of mishaps with DSTP. https://lnkd.in/gUGDRPxB...

The tailings – the leftover from mining- of Resolution Copper’s proposed mine at Oak Flat cause concern. “When I look at the area where the tailings are supposed to be, it presents a great danger to everybody, not just to the O’odham, not just the Apache, but to everybody. This mine is going to affect different watersheds…it threatens our water, our most precious resource,” says Amy Juan, a member of the Tohono Oʼodham Nation. #SaveOakFlat #arizona #Conservation #Sacredlands #EnvironmentalJustice #Water #Conservation

🌄💰 Sustaining Success: West Virginia Surface Mines in Focus 💰🌄 In a testament to West Virginia's mining prowess, surface mines across the state delivered an impressive 15.4 million tons of coal in the past year. Spread across 35 mines, this achievement underscores the state's pivotal role in fueling the nation's energy needs. Behind this remarkable production are the 2,980 dedicated surface miners, whose hard work and expertise not only drive the industry forward but also sustain livelihoods. Their efforts account for a substantial $247 million in annual wages, underscoring the economic significance of the mining sector in West Virginia. Moreover, the contributions extend beyond wages, with approximately $40 million in state severance tax collections bolstering vital public services and infrastructure projects statewide. But West Virginia's commitment to responsible mining goes beyond extraction. It extends to the ongoing reclamation efforts that ensure the sustainable utilization of land post-mining. In 2023 alone, final reclamation activities concluded on approximately 7,000 acres of previously mined areas, highlighting the state's dedication to environmental stewardship and community well-being. As we reflect on these achievements, let's recognize the resilience and dedication of West Virginia's mining community. Their unwavering commitment not only powers our present but also paves the way for a sustainable and prosperous future. 🚜🌱 #MiningMilestones #WestVirginiaPride #SustainableMining #CrouseForHouse
