🌊🍃 PARADOXAL SURFBOARDS is riding the waves with nature! Born from the shores of Brittany, France, this company specializes in producing surfboards from algae, presenting a biobased solution for the surfing community. 🏄♂️ Founded in 2020 by Jérémy Lucas, a surfer himself, Paradoxal Surfboards was inspired by the proliferation of green algae on beaches. Lucas, struck by the idea during a surfing session, envisioned a surfboard that not only addressed this environmental concern, but also offered high performance. 🏄 🌊 The result? A 3D-printed surfboard whose design is inspired by the structure of diatoms found in algae. The goal: provide unmatched strength and flexibility compared to traditional surfboards. And these boards are not only visually striking, but are also made from 100% biosourced materials, including a novel thermoformable material developed from green algae powder. 🔍 They also focus on local manufacturing next to the closet surf and sources of algae. 14.10.2023 - On the day the Ericeira World Surfing Reserve turns 12 years old the Local Stewardship Council reinforced their commitment with Ericeira’s natural HABITAT RESTORATION Climate change, pollution, overfishing, water quality and biodiversity degradation pose a threat to the marine habitats belonging to our coastal region. For the surfing community the waves and their biodiversity are essential to the wellbeing of the local community and natural habitats but also for the surfing business ecosystem and territory sustainability providing healthier life styles, food, jobs, recreation and natural beauty. In the last Global Wave Conference organised by The Surfrider Foundation with the support of Fórum Oceano and Save The Waves Coalition some of those topics were discussed together by the world's main environmental Non-Governmental Organisations, academics, oceanographers, environmentalists, activists, surfers, politicians, surf industry, invluding coastal communities. To address those challenges, the EWSR Local Stewardship Council constituted by the 4 EWSR guardians Câmara Municipal de Mafra, Ericeira Surf Clube, SOS Salvem o Surf and Associação dos Amigos da Baía dos Coxos signed a Memorandum of Understanding, committing to put in a next level the objectives established in the 2017 RMSE Management Plan (https://lnkd.in/dE335G6c) and announced new plans for permanently protecting Ericeira coastline including improve the quality of water (Over 7 million euros slated for a new sewage treatment system) and restore native habitats (15 hectares of coastal property acquired by Câmara Municipal de Mafra for restoration and permanent preservation). One of the most strategic questions the Innovation & Sustainability Department of Ericeira Surf Clube have in hands is making a technical study how to FUNDING this new flagship and their initiatives specially from the surfing sport community and business ecosystem, as well as how it will be aligned the new plan with the “new protected marine area of community interest” that will merge the coastal territories of Cascais, Sintra and Mafra municipalities which represents 66 km of coastline. In the ESC perspective, funding is also necessary to support local initiatives promoted by civic movements and citizens participation because they made part of the solution in this collective objective in ligne with Trent Hodges vision and wrote in the article “It is clear from this success that protecting surf ecosystems requires the commitment and dedication of elected government as well as civil society organizations for large scale ecosystem conservation to be durable.” TOGETHER for an Ericeira World Surfing Reserve more inclusive and sustainable!!! A hydrofoil surfboard, also known as a foil board, is a type of surfboard that has a hydrofoil mounted underneath. This hydrofoil extends below the board into the water and lifts the board above the surface as it gains speed. Here's how it works: Hydrofoil Design: The hydrofoil consists of a mast and a wing or foil that creates lift as it moves through the water. The team at Sine Surf are now selling their sustainable timber blanks so you can adapt and finish a surfboard as you wish. In their words: "Over the past few months we’ve been working to automate a large portion of our computer design and manufacturing workflow so that we can bring this service to the market. We can now reproduce any surfboard shape with less than 1mm error, all that we need is the shape’s dimensions or the digital shape file. The blanks are easy to use and are designed to slot in nicely with the existing surfboard manufacturing workflow. They are slightly more expensive than PU/EPS foam blanks but come with benefits as well. The blanks have pre-routed fin box holes, and a pre installed leash plug. Definitely is NOT a Domino in the Wave Park World. Who ever mentions it, means that has no clue of the actual and upcoming growth of the Surfpool market. Snowdonia was just an individual case which I prefer not to make any comments. Technology is developing rapidly either by the the actual manufactures which are constantly updating and new technologies will soon be coming into the market. We're yet just in the early beginning of the leisure surfpool market. Just would like to mention as a joke to all market analysers and alarming news. In the 50's how many planes fell down?... did aviation industry fell down? Get real to the upcoming market or you'll be travelling by vapor train and is going to be hard to pass the Atlantic that way. Airplanes are still here as Surfpools will be here for the next generations! So Endless, Wavegarden, Perfectswell, etc. etc. and all new comers.
