We take our commitment to managing groundwater at the Carmichael mine seriously. Every two months, experienced hydrologists collect and record groundwater data at more than 120 monitoring bores on our mining and pastoral leases and on neighbouring landholders' properties. The monitoring bores were drilled to specific depths to allow hydrogeologists to collect info on aquifers in nine different geological layers - some of them are as deep as 600m below ground level! This info informs a process of checking any impacts via sensitive early warning triggers and makes sure we're meeting our conditions. #responsiblemining #environment #watermanagement #resources

Take a look around our CHP (also known as our coal handling plant) in these new images. In very basic terms, our CHP is a high-tech facility that crushes coal into graded sized chunks (sorting), stockpiles it, prepares it for transport to market, and also loads the coal into the rail wagons via the stockpiles. Witness the fitness! We've been focusing on promoting health and fitness at our accommodation villages recently, after the completion of our brand-new health and fitness center. If you work at Carmichael, have you been and checked it out? When you are working away, it can be hard to drag yourself to the gym, but we understand just how important it is to keep active - not just for physical health, but for mental health too. Group fitness classes, running/walking track, fun fitness comps and shiny new gym equipment are just some of the ways we are encouraging happy, healthy team members. 💪

A few weeks ago some colour burst on the scene when two purple trays arrived at the Carmichael mine ready for fitting to our CAT796 AC haul trucks. Produced and painted by Rockhampton’s SMW Group Australia our new trays have been painted purple to bring awareness to our onsite peer supporter program. Did you know: our CHPP only processes our coal? Because it’s customized to the type of coal we mine at Carmichael, our CHPP is designed exactly to our requirements. It’s a bypass circuit with a 1,500 tonne per hour crushing and screening capacity. And…it looks great at golden hour also! #justsaying 💁

We think it’s true what they say—time flies when you're having fun! It’s hard to believe it’s already been three weeks since we attended QME and the Queensland Mining Awards. While we didn’t come away with the win in the awards, our team’s contributions to the Carmichael mine have not gone unnoticed.
