When Real Madrid footballer, Nacho Fernandez, was diagnosed with #Type1Diabetes at 12 years old, he was told his footballing days were over 💙⚽ This Sunday, Nacho is playing for Spain in the #EURO2024 final! #T1D doesn’t stop you from following your dreams! #GBDoc

Be nice if the CGM manufacturers allowed smart watches to get alerts without the need for phones.....not like they haven't got WiFi, Bluetooth, and NFC protocols. That'd really help with sports. As it is now, nightmare.

That appears to likely be a Dexcom G7 he is wearing. I bet a lot of Dexcom fans would like to know exactly what aftermarket product/s he is using to surround the sensor and keep it on his arm. (??)

Awesome to see this on the world stage for the younger T1D’s 🙌🏼

Former Tottenham and England player Gary Mabbut can vouch for that.

The tech has simply made things easier. I was diagnosed T1D aged 39, 11 years ago. My first question was "can I still run my ultramarathon in 6 weeks?" I was lucky enough that Addenbrookes has some great T1 educators, but that was still a rather interesting learning curve! I've then spent the last ten years refining my approach to endurance running and cycling, fingers looking like a pincushion as I test every 30 mins, then every 45 mins and finally having the confidence to go hourly having got a good idea of my nutritional needs. Then getting used to a "dumb pump" with some interesting excursions along the way of course, but 18 months ago, the UK's roll-out of CGM was a massive disruptor, and then being able to link that to my watch and cycling GPS have completely changed the game. There will always be a degree of anxiety in managing a lifelong condition like T1D, but the tech has taken away so much of that, so that my first question "can i?" should now be "how do I?"

Alexander Silverstein. also in tennis Wimbledon on a high profile stage. I’ve known a number of inspirational young sports people doing martial arts, athletics who work with their #type1diabetes to be able to enjoy competitive sport. Progress from ‘push to pen to pump’ is amazing.

It bothers me that Diabetes is listed on employment forms as a disability. As a Type 1 Diabetic, diabetes is not a disability. Mismanagement can cause a disability, but it is not a disability.
