Attended the session on "How Much Citizen Engagement is Enough" at the 'Festival of Innovation' conference earlier this week. The panellists nicely summed up the discussion with an 'EAT RICE' acronym, which serves as a helpful reminder for our engagement work with commuters at the Public Transport Council, as part of our Advisory role to the Minster for Transport on public transport matters, such as commuters' experience and service quality.
Ecosystem: Understand the ecosystem to better know the dynamics and interaction of all stakeholders.
Accessibility: Enables full and equitable participation of community members.
Trust: Helps in building trust with participants for more authentic and impartial responses.
Richness (in-depth and detailed data) + Reach: Aim to strike a balance for both for greater engagement texture.
Inclusiveness: Ensures all voices are heard, especially harder-to-reach groups.
Context: Share the context that we are working in as it gives the communication it’s meaning and purpose.
Emotive engagement: Helps in the introduction of policies with emotive ownership.
After 'eating rice', it is fundamental to also close the loop with participants for enhanced legitimacy (open-transparent-accountable).
Did you know that in some communities there is a link between a history of racial segregation and the temperatures felt by residents today? Check out this toolkit around Earth Day (April 22) and its connections to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

👉Living a life in service to society is a noble pursuit, one that encompasses compassion, empathy, and a commitment to making a positive impact on the world around us. To embody this ethos, I strive to use my abilities and resources to uplift others, contribute to the greater good, and promote a sense of community.
One way I serve society is by continuously learning and sharing knowledge. Through education and awareness, I aim to empower individuals with the tools they need to thrive and make informed decisions. Whether it's through writing, teaching, or engaging in meaningful conversations, I seek to inspire others to reach their full potential.
Additionally, I believe in fostering inclusivity and diversity, recognizing the value of every individual's unique perspective and experiences. By advocating for equality and justice, I strive to create a more equitable society where everyone has equal opportunities to succeed.
Furthermore, I am dedicated to environmental sustainability and conservation efforts. Recognizing the importance of preserving our planet for future generations, I support initiatives aimed at protecting the environment and minimizing our ecological footprint.
Overall, I view service to society as a lifelong commitment that requires dedication, empathy, and a willingness to make a difference, no matter how small. By striving to embody these principles in my daily actions, I hope to leave a positive legacy and contribute to a brighter future for all.

End of Week: let's reflect:
Coming from a different background and workplace, and working with people from various countries, helped me find myself again after losing everything overnight. It's important for to recognize our social responsibility as members of society. We should all contribute to a positive community where everyone can thrive, feel they belong, and feel safe. This way, people like me can find themselves, thrive, and become positive members of society. Each act of kindness, each gesture of support, builds a bridge towards a more inclusive and understanding society.
In the end, it’s about creating a world where everyone feels seen, valued, and capable of succeeding. By contributing to an environment of empathy and compassion, we not only uplift individuals but also create a ripple effect of positivity that touches every corner of society. Irish society is one such that gives you those opportunities to connect, to empathize, and to support one another, regardless of background or circumstance. Let's take inspiration from this and strive to cultivate such a culture of kindness and inclusivity wherever we may be.

We're not just observers of change; we're active participants in shaping a future where diversity, equity, and human rights are not just ideals, but realities lived daily.
🤝 Our mission has always been to create designs that not only inspire but also advocate for meaningful societal transformations. On this important day, we reaffirm our commitment to these principles. We stand in solidarity with communities worldwide striving for human rights, recognizing that our diverse voices, backgrounds, and experiences are not just valuable, but essential in this pursuit.
🌿 Together, we can design a world that honours and upholds the dignity and rights of every individual. Let's continue to be beacons of hope and change, today and every day.

💬 Emphasizing strategic communication, our discussion last week quickly zeroed in on the importance of aligning employee actions with corporate values and the essential role of leadership in modeling this commitment.
We examined the broad implications for communicators in crafting narratives that support CSR activities as a core aspect of organizational identity and employee involvement. Undoubtedly, we’re at the forefront of these initiatives, facilitating internal understanding and external expression of the company’s social impact work.
Key takeaway: Biopharma communicators’ role is critical in articulating and activating CSR strategy (regardless of company/client stage), ensuring that every level of the organization is informed and engaged.
Engaging your teams in a meaningful way is yet another positive outcome achieved beyond the community impact shown through CSR initiatives. This week, we explore the comms-specific mechanics often behind these initiatives and how to maximize your org’s or clients’ social impact programming for both current and future employees.
