Let's face it, historically, ERP has been developed for boomers and all those whose first phone was just a phone. But if you explain to zoomer that ERP is the cat’s meow, you might be considered a fossil. Well, age is just a state of mind. Look at the picture. Which historical continuum does your mind connect to? The lower road is traditional and despite evolving over time, the ERP will always remain true to its stable roots. This path is characterized by an inherited and instinctive "if it ain't broke..." mindset. However, the real distinguishing factor is the belief that overall efficiency is the result of using separate systems and AIs. This is the path of dissociation. The upper one is the path of fusion - and for those who are looking for and are responsive to new associations, such as seeing problems and opportunities in a new light. Branching out from the ERP into the Suite/Platform is fruitful. It rewires the brain - from linear snapshots of the whole, into the play of closed-loop end-to-end processes. In addition to this, becoming familiar with the UX = EX equation may lead to collective enlightenment in such a way that even the neurons of the geek department synchronize to human-centeredness. If you want to understand more about different paths, consider checking the buzz around the Oracle Fusion Cloud platform. Leave a comment or ping me if you want to spar about roadmaps for the future. #future #convergence #platform #innovation #ERP #HCM #EPM #oraclecloud

**Decommissioning to a read-only archival system:Modernize While Preserving History.** Thinking about migrating to a new ERP system but worried about losing access to valuable historical data? This post offers a roadmap to achieve both – a smooth transition to a modern ERP and continued access to your legacy system for ongoing reporting. This is the sixth in a series of *Lessons learned and best practices from my 27 years in technology sales engineering for five leading software, cloud, and service companies. *Key Steps to a Successful Hybrid Approach:* * Plan the Move:* Chart your course by identifying critical historical data and establishing a data migration plan to ensure accuracy. * Reporting Strategy:* Analyze your reporting needs, map existing reports to the new system, and explore built-in and custom reporting options. That includes determining the feasibility of a datamart migration. * Coexistence and Integration:* Connect your new and old systems for seamless data exchange while maintaining robust access controls in the legacy system. Only if it’s a requirement. In some cases the historical data is retained in its current state. * Data Archiving and Retention:* Archive historical data in your legacy system, establish a clear policy for deletion or long-term storage, and implement this policy. Purge data that would no longer be required. * User Training and Support:* Empower your team with training on the new ERP and reporting tools, along with clear instructions for accessing historical data. In some cases newer reporting tools could prove to be more intuitive and more powerful. *Optimizing Your Legacy System for Efficiency:* * Rightsizing Resources:*Free up resources in your legacy system by analyzing usage patterns and optimizing allocation. Excellent example of scaling down. * Virtualization or Cloud Migration:* Consider virtualizing your old system on-premises or migrating it to the cloud for flexiblily and cost savings. * Storage Optimization:* Utilize lower-cost storage options, data compression, and efficient file systems to manage your archived data. * Network Bandwidth Management:*Assess and optimize network settings for efficient data flow. * Backup and Disaster Recovery:* Maintain regular backups and a disaster recovery plan for your legacy system. *Remember:* * Involve stakeholders from IT, finance, and business teams throughout the process. * This approach allows you to leverage the power of a modern ERP while preserving valuable historical data for ongoing reporting. #solutionscoping #presales #salesenginnering #salesvelocity #aiart
