Thank you to everyone who noted my recent work anniversary (particular thanks to those who asked if we started Big Picture before I started school – drinks are on me 😉). To be honest, for the last few years I’ve had a momentary cringe when the number comes up – 20+ years is a very long time to spend in the same business. But that’s the point: Big Picture is not the same business it was when we started. It’s not the same as it was when we hired our very first employee (still referred to as our First Born). It’s not the same as it was pre-pandemic. Almost every day brings something new. The bids are bigger. Our team is more diverse. Our involvement runs deeper. Our experience and insights are more informed, more valuable, more recognised. We work with global clients we could only dream of attracting when we started. And there’s still so much I want us to achieve: - International growth - Greater engagement with our infrastructure sector - More involvement during the delivery phase of the projects we help win - Exploring new horizons in community and stakeholder engagement, sustainability and AI. So I’ve decided to embrace that ever-increasing number of years 'in the same business'. Because it’s not the same business. It’s even better.

Thank you for all the comments and notes on my work anniversary with 22 years under my belt as a facilitator, speaker and advisor. As the grateful dead said "What a long strange trip it has been" . . . but in a good way. I thought I would share a few observations as I reflect on the journey (in no particular order and just a few random thoughts) 1) I think of my business like a business portfolio. Like a good financial portfolio it needs diversity and when one element isn't as strong, turn up the others. 2) I try to keep an eye on what challenges and opportunities my clients are running into and what is happening in business/industry overall. Where are there shifts happening and shifts on the horizon. 3) When someone says they have a problem, I have an opportunity to help. 4) I try to over service my clients, provide value added at no cost. Surprise them. 5) Pick and choose my customers. Not every company/person is a good fit for me and I am not a good fit for every company/person. In the early days, I would take anything, but it cost them and me. 6) Collect and create tools, ideas and concepts. I have a folder of tools and resources I have created or collected that I can access quickly. 7) Although I like to create, a fellow colleague said we are "curators" pulling together unique items that satisfy our clients. 8) It takes 3 years to build a business model. Every time I have ventured into something and thought "I can get that going quickly", it turns out that it takes much longer, usually it's 3 years before I can see it as a viable venture. Ok, enough rambling, just some thoughts to share as gratitude for the kind words everyone shared on this touchstone moment. There are definitely other thoughts, maybe some day I will write them all down. Maybe you have some experiences to share too. . .

And just like that, this week marks my 5th anniversary at LinkedIn. 🌟 The last 5 years have been filled with learning, growth, and the best people, and I'm so grateful for it all! To celebrate, here are five lessons I've learned: 🤗 Change is the only guarantee, embrace it: I've witnessed time and time again the firsthand the power of adaptability. From navigating industry shifts to embracing technological advancements (hello GAI), change is inevitable and an opportunity to grown and learn. 🤝 Collaboration will take you far: Teamwork makes the dream work! I've had the privilege of working alongside incredibly talented colleagues - we've achieved so much and overcome tall obstacles. Bringing people along with their unique perspective, takes me further than I could go by myself. 👀 Perspective matters: I've sat in two different lines of business at LinkedIn, and this has been incredibly advantageous for how I approach problems. Learn and gain perspective wherever possible for more holistic views! 🧠 You know more than you think you do: Confidence at work has always been something I've struggled with, never feeling like I'm the expert. My favorite quote I've picked up here is, "Even if you spend one hour learning about something, you know exponentially more than someone who knows nothing about a topic." Sometimes, I might just be the expert, even if I don't believe it. 👯♀️ Relationships matter: Time and time again I think back to what I've enjoyed the most at LinkedIn and it's the people. Cheesy, I know, but they're what has kept me sane and taught me the most. Leaning into the people around me is critical, especially when the virtual world of work can make it feel silo'd and heavy. There are too many incredible folks to tag, but thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who has been a part of my journey thus far. Here's to many more years of growth together!

The journey of a thousand miles… Thank you for joining me again on this journey. It's the same journey of growth, but a different method and different roadmap now. As things become more clearer, I find myself re-defining my goals, re-learning, and being more intentional about the things that truly matter. I have always wanted to impart, inspire, and encourage people through my many gifts and talents, especially writing. I want to see the best of people, to see them being the best for themselves. One thing I have come to learn from this deep seated passion for humanity is that you make mistakes and you bounce back. You can't afford to stay in the mistake. It's a journey. You keep moving. When you are building something just like myself, you discover that as you build, you will place a wrong brick on the other bricks, what you have to do is simply look for the right brick, and replace the wrong one. In building something big, you must get it right, no matter how many times you do something over again. The effort and consistency will eventually pay off. Now, I am replacing a wrong brick by doing this. I am moving on despite my mistake. I hope you learn to see the beauty of this journey as I see it and enjoy it with me. Today's Panos short talk: Ambition ↗️ 🆚️ Gratitude 🙏 We all know ambitious people that seem to never be happy with what they achieve. We also know people that hide their pathetic attitude behind a curtain of an explicitly sold gratitude. I have news for you: ▶️ Ambition and gratitude are not mutually exclusive. ↪️ They can be combined. 😀 You can remain committed to your ambitions and work for them and at the same time feel grateful for everything you have in your life.

Dear colleagues and friends, Today, as I celebrate my 35th birthday, it's a wonderful opportunity for reflection and assessment. I've experienced numerous moments of success, challenges, and significant discoveries throughout this time. Allow me to share with you 10 key insights that have guided me in my professional and personal growth:  1️⃣ Embrace Challenges as Opportunities: Every challenge holds within it an opportunity for growth and development.  2️⃣ Remain Open to Learning: Continuous learning is the key to expanding horizons and honing skills.  3️⃣ Maintain a Work-Life Balance: A healthy life is the foundation of success.  4️⃣ Build Strong Relationships: Relationships with people are the key to mutual support and collaboration.  5️⃣ Don't Fear Taking Risks: Sometimes, taking big risks leads to great success.  6️⃣ Communicate with Your Team: Open communication fosters effective work and creates a conducive atmosphere within the team.  7️⃣ Be Ready for Change: Flexibility is the key to adaptation in a rapidly changing world.  8️⃣ Focus on Quality: Quality should always take precedence over quantity.  9️⃣ Never Stop Dreaming: Dreams are what propel us forward.  🔟 Don't Forget Gratitude: Remember those who have helped you achieve success and always express gratitude. These insights have formed the foundation of my experience and continue to guide me in leading Luxe Quality with confidence and a sense of responsibility.
