A big thank you to those who came out to support Brentwood's Designer Bag Bingo, benefitting the American Cancer Society on June 23rd! The event was made possible by our Relay for Life team, and you helped us raise $7,276.50! This put us over $18,000 raised for the ACS in 2024!! We are thrilled with the results and plan to continue Designer Bag Bingo annually. Keep your eyes out for a date sometime next spring!

This is not just a story about the best breakfast - it’s a story about a best friend (who needs help for the worst reason). Almost every morning I eat toast with banana and peanut butter. It’s been at least ten years and I’m not sick of it (and hope I never will be). If you haven’t tried it, consider this your wake-up call. And just so you know, I always slice up the banana in rounds and lay them out like this (I promise this will matter later): [OOOO] [OOOO] [OOOO] One of the perks of a best friend is you can stay with them when you’re in town, and they’ll offer to pick up your favorite breakfast foods and snacks. (Or is it just that my friends and I really care about food??) That’s exactly what happened a couple of years ago when I was in New York and stayed with Devin Bramhall. I let her know about the banana and toast situation, and of course she made sure to have some on hand. What happened next absolutely blew me away. Ever-thoughtful Devin, of course, had toast ready and waiting for me when I woke up. I was so thrilled (I'm a post-hibernation bear cub in the morning) - then I looked at the plate and my jaw dropped. [( )( )( )] [( )( )( )] [( )( )( )] Devin had made peanut butter toast with bananas in a way I had *never seen before*. She sliced the banana lengthwise (kind of hard to tell from my crummy text art up there) and laid it out in neat rows across the toast. 🤯🤩 She had shown me an entirely new angle on something I saw every day. I think about this now almost every time I make this breakfast for myself, because it encapsulates so much of what I love about Devin - she is unendingly kind and generous and would do anything for her friends. But she is also the most creative person I have ever met and approaches everything with a totally new perspective. You will always encounter the unexpected with Devin. Now, Devin is facing the unexpected herself - an incredibly rare form of ovarian cancer. Treatment has made it difficult for her to work and support herself, so it’s our turn to support her. An amazing lineup of marketers is teaming up to put on a fundraiser for Devin, taking place on Monday. Sign up or donate below, it will go such a long way. Register now: jayacunzo.com/devin And don't forget to try this breakfast. I swear, it's the best (and so is Devin).

Freelance Writer helping B2B & SaaS companies infuse disability inclusion in their content | Auditor working with you to create accessible built environments | Co-Founder Lara Guide Dog School 🦮
Hi, you glowing disability-inclusive soul. 🙋♀️ I usually have a structure on how to start a post. It's a method that helps me solve the problem of chaotic ideas racing in my head. But today, this post makes me feel like I'm writing for the first time. Self-doubt creeps in. It's punishing. Why? Because it's about my friend Libby Marks Copywriter and her sweet, little daughter, Annabel, who about a month ago was diagnosed with cancer. Now, I've never met Libby in person. But since 2019, she's been like a devoted mentor to me. And, as a mother, to see her and her family go through this tough time is hard. But I'm not here to dwell on a tear-jerking story. I believe in action. In coming together as a community and helping people to make the world a better place. I guess what I'm trying to say is: Would you like to help raise funds for Annabel's care team? You see, the brilliant staff at Great North Childrens Hospital Foundation supports children and their families who come for treatment and care. They strive to make them feel like a friend visiting their home. And, because of that warm, welcoming feeling, children have a quicker recovery. How much was raised so far? £1,175k. Now how about £2k? It's your money, so please think about your financial situation. And if you can, let's do this. 💪 #Cancer #CancerSupport #Fundraising #NewCastle #NewCastleUponTyne

🙏 Thank you to everyone who has supported my fundraiser so far. This morning I'm chugging a few espressos and throwing on my gym gear for some training, before we head off to hospital for a few days' inpatient stay for chemo. I'm really touched that connections, followers, and even strangers would contribute. £1k raised. £2k next? 🙏 https://lnkd.in/ea7frZ2g #cancer #newcastle #newcastleupontyne #cancersucks #fundraising
