Let me share my process in writing The Sports Life newsletter. It's 5:00 am, dogs walked, decaf coffee brewed. That's when the work begins—sifting through Google News Alerts, newsletters, X, and bookmarks of online trade publications, collecting dots from every corner of the sports universe. The challenge? It's not collecting the dots; it's deciding which dots to connect, weaving a story that hits each week. The last thirty-three issues of The Sports Life have taken a "1-inch wide and a mile deep" approach—diving into a single topic and exploring it thoroughly. It felt like a NYC speakeasy bar in the late '90s East Village I would sometimes visit, where the focus was on one perspective, one theme. Today, podcasts have taken the place of speakeasies. Audio is now my go-to for those "mile-deep" dives. Yet, my favorite newsletters embrace the opposite—a "1-inch deep and a mile wide" style—quick hits commentaries all tied together with a consistent theme. So, here's the play for the following few issues—I'm keeping my pivot foot steady on the block but turning to face the basket. Each Saturday, I will share what I see across the entire floor of the participatory sports landscape for the week. Instead of spending the entire shot clock on one shot, I want to get off as many shots as possible. The theme remains anchored in The Sports Life's founding DNA: helping you build participatory sports ventures at the intersection of Art, Culture, and Sports. "Our club/sport/league does not get enough sports coverage from the media." I completely agree with this statement which is one of the main reasons why we have launched Manc Sport. I agree with the opening statement so much that I decisively left my former job as a sports editor at an established publication that paid better then what I am currently earning. Every week I published at least 10-12 sports, sometimes up towards 20 in the regional newspaper where I worked. I saw the importance of highlighting all sports, unlike a lot of other publications who report on their Premier League football team/s and that is pretty much it. "All sports for all sorts" is our company mantra, it is on the logo. The highly frustrating thing is we are a platform that is championing grassroots, under reported, women's and disabled sports, yet there are "Head of communications" personnel at certain organisations that just don't communicate. Kind of the purpose of the job, I would think. Don't get me wrong, we have had a HUGE response from certain segments of the sporting world and our numbers for our first month are well into five figures. We are not on search engines yet (this takes time) so we are really happy with these results so far. However, especially from under reported sports some of the responses to several emails have been non-existent. We are out there, we are growing, we are building an audience, we don't have any ads on our site, we want to champion your stories. Using a popular sporting cliche, it is "a bit of a no-brainer." Help us help you. We are also an underdog, we have no backers, we are staffed by all volunteers and we are extremely passionate about what we are trying to achieve. Our goals go hand in hand. I previously put the blame for sports being under-reported firmly at the feet of mainstream media however after the first month of operating the website, I now know that this is not 100% the case. Manc Sport do not charge to produce written articles, we don't want to be a typical publication that just regurgitates press releases. We have done some amazing work with Manchester Titans American Football Club and made some great in roads with Access Sport , these are just two of our success stories so far. We want to build and maintain good relationships with sporting bodies, clubs and organisations to get the best stories out to our readers. Let's all be team players and help each other out.

It was great to receive recognition from Kane Cornes last week on his SEN radio broadcast, acknowledging the impact of our Baseline Footy platform in elevating the profiles of AFL draft prospects as they enter their draft year.   Before launching Baseline Footy, I often wondered why, as a devoted Essendon fan, I knew so little about the players we were drafting. This contrasted sharply with the US sports system, where draftees are celebrated almost as much as the league stars.   This raises an interesting point about why player profiling hasn't been a priority for leagues or players themselves, especially in the modern digital landscape. One significant theme I've observed is the prevalence of tall-poppy syndrome, a factor that impedes young players from fully investing in their personal brands.   I believe both young and established athletes are missing crucial opportunities by hesitating to build their personal brands, fearing they might 'step out of line'. They are overlooking key chances to:   • Strengthen their personal brand • Unlock opportunities for endorsement deals and sponsorships. • Use their influence to initiate business ventures outside of their professional sport. • Create a pathway for their ‘post-sport’ life   At Baseline Sports, we're eager to delve deeper into this space and consistently identify new ways to assist athletes and clubs in building their online presence and influence.   More on this to come. Let me preface this by saying I thoroughly enjoy comedy. The only thing I’ve ever loved more than sports is making people laugh. To me, there’s nothing more rewarding. It’s about providing an outlet for fans to let loose, have some fun, and enjoy sports content from a different perspective than most of what’s readily available. I can honestly say that there aren’t too many people out there doing things the way we do, and I naturally take pride in that. Created More Than 1000 Sports Videos: *From face videos to live shows, and various other multimedia projects, I've immersed myself in diverse forms of content creation. *These videos served as a platform to engage with audiences, convey narratives, and showcase the dynamic nature of sports. 3. Scripted 10 Radio Shows: Crafting scripts for radio shows required a unique blend of creativity and precision. Each script aimed to captivate listeners, delivering compelling content that resonated with sports enthusiasts. 4. Conducted Interviews With Over 50 Sports Personalities: Engaging with sports personalities provided invaluable insights and perspectives, enriching both my professional network and understanding of the industry.
