My mother, Flora Lehmkuhl passed away this weekend from complications due to colon cancer. She was a fun, courageous, energetic and beautiful human being. Like many others, I am indebted to her for so much, as she shaped my character, values, and outlook on life.    She lived a full and complete life and dedicated almost 50 years to healthcare. She was a tremendous advocate of rural heath and completed her career four days shy of her 80th birthday as the Director of Radiology at the Pender Community Hospital, a critical access hospital in Northeast Nebraska.    Her lifelong passion for caring for others continues in the work the Pender Community Hospital is doing each and every day. As such, our family has donated to the Pender Community Health Care Foundation in honor of my mother.    If you or anyone you know, have a passion for rural healthcare access, you may want to consider donating to this hospital foundation.  They can be found here: https://lnkd.in/gVMSHdVA   If you are a Medtronic employee, the Medtronic Foundation will also match the donation and that can be found here: https://lnkd.in/gmnwp7E7   Spend time with those you love, tell them you love them, make sure they know that.    My best,   BW #pendercommunityhospital, #pendercommunityhealthcarefoundation, #radiology, #medtronicemployee, #medtronicneurosciences

Diversity is a key driver of innovation in any organization. As an executive sponsor of the Medtronic African Descent Network (ADN), I have personally learned the importance of allyship not just during designated months such as this one as we celebrate Black History Month, but throughout the entire year. As leaders, we hold a significant role in fostering and championing diverse talent within our organization. The African proverb, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together,” serves as a powerful reminder of the value of collaboration and inclusivity in achieving long-term success.   I feel privileged to collaborate with exceptional talent across our Neuroscience Portfolio. Today, I’d like to shine a spotlight on three employees who have graciously shared their experiences as members of our ADN. Diane Houston, Christopher Robinson and Tiana Wooden, CPA, your membership in our ADN helps build solid cross-company relationships and provides diverse perspectives to inspire bold solutions to the world’s most complex and challenging conditions.   As Black History Month comes to an end, I hope that we always spend time to reflect and celebrate the achievements of Black Americans. Allyship is a crucial practice that should be embraced every day, not just during this month.
