I recently finished reading this after seeing multiple recommendations from people in my network and I highly recommend this as a critical thinking retrospective More than a handbook on what business owners should do / not do this provides an interesting perspective on how modern businesses are built today , what we can learn from history age what it would potentially take to run a sustainable startup today - delving into not just the success stories but also companies or groups that didn’t quite achieve what they set out to and what Thiel thinks could have been better Perhaps most interestingly the book has a tone which has you comparing the past with the present - a lot of business books read like a how to but what sets this apart is that it’s more of a thought exercise and had me thinking of how companies and industries in the current era which likely stand to get disputed from AI and its use cases could either crash or scale further
