Five years ago, Chris Do interviewed me on his insanely popular podcast. Of the stories we covered, one stood out; The soul-shaping trip I had taken to Ireland only four months before. I had reached a point in my life where many of the things I took for granted (even successful things), had to be largely re-examined. Or, as Dante says in The Divine Comedy: "Midway along the journey of our life I woke to find myself in a dark wood, for I had wandered off from the straight path." I had run out of road. I learned that celebrated poet David Whyte, working with his writing and music colleagues Mícheál and Owen Ó Súilleabháin, had organized an almost mythic, private, yearly retreat on the west coast of Ireland. Accomplished artists, including Steven Spielberg, had gone. It was, for them, transformative. Through lucky contacts I got myself invited. And then a week later, Ireland. That ancient place on the far, windy, western edge of Europe. Where it is unclear where the real world ends and the imaginal ones begin. Owen, Mícheál and David became friends. And the life I had learned with would end. And the life I was to live, began. ... Because of its isolation on the distant reaches of the Atlantic, Ireland was never conquered by the Romans. It never became commonly civilized like the rest of Europe. It has held on to what “enlightened” continents would call superstitions and folklore. Ireland embraces the imagined world, through poetry, myth, dance, art and music, more than the rest of the West. Treasured as a repository of wisdom and spirituality known as The Isle of Saints and Scholars – Ireland became a beacon of light during the Dark Ages. And now, in a moment when much is turning upside down, and after many questions from my friends and designers about my visit, we are moving on an idea suggested by Chris Do. A trip for creative people to Ireland. So, join Chris Do and me on October 21-27. Unlike any trip you have ever taken. I invite you apply to join our small community of 20 for six days and six nights into the creative imagination of Ireland. You will join men and women at crossroads, seeking to expand their imaginative horizons and discover a deeper foundation in their work. Our journey will be led by the same friends who first took me here, brothers Owen and Mícheál, singers, poets and part of a family lineage that has shared the music and literature of Ireland for generations. You will experience artists, poets, musicians, keepers of ancestry and story, leaders in the arts, archaeology, pristine landscapes and delicious, local food and drink. And we’ll do it all in the company of an engaged community of self-selected souls Our invitation is only open for a few days. These openings will go fast. For more info and to apply, go here: https://shorturl.at/xiokr And, at the end, I promise Dante will speak, again. "And so, we came forth and once again beheld the stars." Magical things will happen. .

It is a truly magical place. Two years ago I joined a group of shaman to walk the land, commune with the stones, trace the triskele and sit in the Cailleach’s chair. It was life changing indeed.

Brian Collins for anyone who joins the trip, as a preview to a mix of Irish culture I would highly recommend this weekly hour long radio programme my Dubliner’s mum introduced me to it https://www.rte.ie/radio/radio1/sunday-miscellany. Fortunately you can play back and not get up at 4am. It's a national treasure we try to listen Sunday mornings, today's 6/30 was particularly lovely poetry and music. Lolo Wood thank you RTE
