In 2019 I lost my mother to Leukemia way too young. My two youngest sons have now joined the fight to find a cure. Here is the letter they sent out to friends and family... We are investing our time and effort into this campaign for a reason. Our Grandmother, whom we called ‘Gammie’, fought a long battle with Multiple Myeloma and eventually contracted Leukemia from her treatments. She fought her disease for over a decade but once she contracted Leukemia she passed away in just nine months. It took a big toll on our family and we miss her love and hugs every day. You know how... -Every square is a rectangle, but not every rectangle is a square? -Every dolphin is a whale, but not every whale is a dolphin? -Every cybersec pro is constantly rambling about threats from nation states, but not every person rambling about threats from nation states is a cybersec pro? Okay, maybe not that last one so much, but you get the idea. The same applies to the idea of "false positives" and "unexpected blocks", two terms often used interchangeably. Every false positive is an unexpected block, but not every unexpected block is a false positive. “Unexpected blocks” is an umbrella term for scenarios where you didn't expect the traffic to be blocked, yet it was. Some reasons this happens are:  1. Mistakes in cyber intelligence, aka, false positives 2. Misunderstood indicators 3. Dangerous traffic Calling all unexpected blocks can lead to potentially dangerous situations, because the implication of "false positive" is that the traffic is, in fact, safe, and shouldn't have been blocked. Unfortunately, that isn't always the case, even if you're just looking up the menu for the local restaurant you're going to later that evening.
