Gaming is becoming increasingly popular, and YouTube is joining the trend with its Playables program available on mobile and desktop.
To play, visit YouTube's website or the Android/iOS app and look for Playables in the sidebar.
Players can save their progress and track high scores across over 75 games, including chess, crossword puzzles, and popular casual titles like Angry Birds Showdown!, Trivia Crack, and Cut the Rope.
YouTube initially launched Playables last year for Premium subscribers, offering a smaller selection of games for a limited time, concluding in March. Now, with a broader array of casual games, YouTube is following a trend seen across tech companies, which use game offerings to attract and retain subscribers.
LinkedIn, The New York Times, Hearst, and Netflix have all added games to their services. Even Google's attempt with Stadia, a cloud gaming service launched in 2019, reflected this trend, though it was shut down in 2023 after three years.
