Small Size = Big Results by Contra Costa Christian Schools Are you looking for a learning community where the class sizes are conducive to enhanced learning and personal growth? If so, allow me to share with you one of several reasons you should tour Contra Costa Christian Schools in Walnut Creek: student teacher ratio in each class! Our teachers are able to give more individual feedback and support to students. Each student can get the attention needed for both academic and personal achievement. Attention Colorado education friends & colleagues! Please join me (and EdReady) in Denver on June 17th for a GlobalMindED pre-conference session! (It's free!) --> In late 2023, the Colorado Sun reported on concerning proficiency scores among Colorado students in core math and English skills, reflecting nationwide trends of uneven pandemic recovery. Despite some gains, overall proficiency levels remain below 50%, especially among marginalized groups like students of color, English-language learners, those with disabilities, and low-income students. This is a problem! In partnership with NROC, Mitchell High School in Colorado Springs defied pandemic trends, significantly improving student readiness for college by implementing EdReady, a low-lift learning platform that utilizes a personalized, competency-based approach. Come learn from their playbook for student success, and contribute to a larger dialogue about overcoming opportunity gaps for all Colorado students! #education #opportunitygaps #k12 #secondaryeducation #learning #edready #algebra #algebrareadiness #collegereadiness

Ex-classroom teacher, currently VP of Growth for Hoot Reading. On a mission to change children's lives through literacy.
Great instruction requires great curriculum. Teachers at South Bronx Classical Charter School spend about 7,000 hours on curriculum revision and development every year. The result? 89.4 percent of students scored proficient in English and 94.7 percent in math. By comparison, the city’s overall proficiency rates were 46.7 percent and 42.7 percent, respectively, and in the community school districts where Classical’s schools are located, proficiency rates were in the range of 20 to 30 percent. Those are MASSIVE gains. What you teach is just as important as how you teach. https://lnkd.in/etkWFBX4

#O6Milestones: During the 2023-24 school year the Original Six Foundation served the highest number of #O6Afterschool students over a full year in program history. Research shows that consistent student attendance in afterschool programs can not only improve academic performance but also influences school-day attendance. Poor school attendance often leads to academic failure. #afterschoolprogramsmatter #everychildmatters #ruraleducation #afterschool #originalsixfoundation #loveSCschools #southcarolina #education #CreekBridgeSTEMAcademy #marionsc

We feel for the students having their education disrupted by such an avoidable problem. In any endeavour, the number one component for success is consistency. This is especially true when learning a new skill or forming new habits. When learning is disrupted, it's like sleep, you can't just catch up and get back to the level you were at previously. The disruption and consequences caused are permanent. In my opinion, this is gross negligence by BOTH political parties and the platitudes are insulting. If only there was a viable third option for next year's elections just to put RED and BLUE in their place.
Our hearts go out to the parents and students of St. Leonard's Catholic School in Durham. This esteemed institution has faced an unprecedented challenge with reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete issues, forcing most year groups to study online for four days a week since term started. 📚💻 St. Leonard's, known for its outstanding academic achievements, is struggling to provide the quality education its students deserve. 🎓🌟 But the parents, in their unwavering dedication, have started the "Save St. Leonard's" campaign to rebuild their beloved school and secure a brighter future for their children. 🌈 Government, get off your backside! #savestleonardsschooldurham https://lnkd.in/esDC9pdB

Don't let the summer slide hold your child back! According to Scholastics, students can lose up to 40% of what they learn during the school year over the summer break, especially in math and reading. But there's good news—there are ways to avoid it! Parents and educators can help keep kids on track with these tips from ABC Action News Tampa (@abc_action_news): 1. 📄 Check your local school district's website for summer learning opportunities. 2. 📝 Print out worksheets for at-home practice. 3. 🎒 Enroll in Summer Bridge or other in-person programs to stay caught up. Tampa Bay area school districts have a variety of resources available, so be sure to explore what's offered in your community. Keep learning fun and engaging to ensure your child is ready for the next school year! #TheLiteracyLab #SummerLearning #EducationMatters

When we are talking about student centered community schools, we necessarily are talking about language: it’s the core of what makes us human and brings us together in community. However, we often treat language like a hardship or a commodity to acquire — the framing of course often depending on your skin color, income level, or immigration status. Community schools are about connection and mattering. Not just services, not just “engaging community.” And language is at the heart. Anya Hurwitz and I love talking and writing about this stuff… but it requires us to ACT and SUPPORT and PERSIST. Some LEAs are seizing the current grant funding in CA to ACT; others aren’t. Potato potahto. It ain’t about the grant y’all. It’s about the intention and commitment to create the learning environments so students thrive. Take a read. 😁
