Exciting times at the Flyers Alumni fundraiser held at Bounce Pickleball in Malvern! Kristen McCabe, our Director of Growth, played pickleball—the fastest-growing sport—with clients, including Marc Grossman (super secret Pickleball Pro) and community members, all while supporting a fantastic cause. A special shoutout to the legends who joined us on the court: John LeClair (Philadelphia Flyers Stanley Cup Champion, 5-time National Hockey League (NHL) All-Star, Olympian), Todd Fedoruk, Scott Hartnell, Paul Holmgren (Bounce regular and solid 4.0 player), Brad Marsh, Bob Kelly, and Neil "Flying Goalie" Little. Your energy and sportsmanship made the event unforgettable! They stayed and played the entire night. Bounce was an incredible host, and we look forward to attending more of these events in the future—amazing cameo by Brent Celek, who is also an impressive player! Sligo Fall Team Tournament – Tues. Oct. 3, 2023 - TOURNAMENT IS FULL! THANKS! We hope everyone is doing well and you got to play Sligo a few times. Also, if you haven’t been to one of the Friday evening (6-8 pm) live music events – come on down! It’s a fabulous series of local bands with lots of fun, good food, drink, and dancing. It is that time of year when we are gearing up for the Fall Sligo Team Challenge Tournament. You can rally your old team to challenge for the cup. If you don't have a team, we can slot in singletons. Our usual “Captain’s Choice” team format. *** E-mail me with your team name and players, so I can put a placeholder. *** If you’re paying by old-fashioned check, physically mail the completed registration form and check prior to tournament day. *** If you are paying by PayPal or Venmo, e-mail me a scan of the completed registration form and complete payment online. *** If you are paying by Cash on the day of the tournament, e-mail me a scan of the completed registration form. Paying before tournament day really makes the check-in process go smoother when all you have to worry about is buying your raffle tickets and mulligans! This is the main fundraiser for all the Sligo course improvements. Since 2007, we have raised and spent almost $100,000 on projects including: stage extension/future beer garden; new planters; annual flowers; new tee signs; rebuilding sand traps; rebuilding tees; water/erosion mitigation projects; benches; bridge repairs; parking lot repairs. If more companies actually took steps to "grow the game" instead of just repeating the line over and over again, we would all be better for it. Golf consumers are starting to see through those empty words. Here is a simple equation: More golfers + more enjoyment = Increased demand across the industry Let's push each other to do more things that make people feel welcome, break down the cost barriers, and help people learn about this complicated game.
Today, in honor of The Masters, we gave away our kid's golf clubs for FREE. We announced on Instagram and TikTok that from 8am-3pm we would be giving away kid's club for free at the GolfRoots HQ here in Dallas, Texas. Sure enough, folks were waiting in the parking lot before 8, and people streamed in throughout the day. We love getting to share this game, and making golf accessible to kids is a great way to do it. Thank you to the members at our Partner Courses who make this possible. Stay tuned, there may be more to come in this space!
