I had an awesome conversation with Lawrence Castillo this week on Toolbox for the Trades! In 2020, he accepted the role of president at Brody Pennell Heating & Air Conditioning, which has been proudly serving the greater Los Angeles area since 1945. Since taking the reins, Lawrence has helped supercharge their business strategy, seeing revenue growth from $7 million to $40 million in just three years!

Very recently, a lot of folks who have come on the show have been second, third generation owners and they come across what you're talking about now, which is kicking in the door and bringing in new systems, new processes, roughly in feathers along the way. What advice would you give to someone who's in that experience right now? With the brands that we've purchased, we've gone in and literally change very little. We want to retain the people. They're afraid of change. They're used to what they've been doing, and they probably look at it thinking I'm going to lose my job. You have to reassure them that if anything changes, it's going to be for the better, to put you on a better trajectory for your career. We're going to bring in some processes that will help your day be a little more streamlined. It's important to me that the people feel valued, that they feel heard and that they understand that we're not there to do anything but to make the business better.
