Happy Women’s Entrepreneurship Day! But, what are we doing to encourage female entrepreneurship? Beyond the challenges that entrepreneurs face in sustaining their businesses, how are we actively breaking barriers for women in entrepreneurship? I've been fortunate to witness entrepreneurship in my own family, with my grandma, my mom, and my sister Laura Daniela Joya Moncada, who relentlessly work to turn their ideas into reality. On top of the inspiration that my friend entrepreneurs give me for being so dedicated whatsoever. Let me tell you a success story about a female entrepreneur In one year, Marie scaled her business from 7 to 45 DKK million in revenue. She started selling her products in 2020 and now has 9 local e-commerce shops and sales to +30 countries. She is one of many female entrepreneurs, who deserve recognition and support. Yesterday, we celebrated Women’s Entrepreneurship Day at Danish Industry with Tech Nordic Advocates. We also discussed the challenge of access to capital, as only 2 pct. of the venture capital goes to female founders. We need to remember that there are success stories and that things ARE changing. Don’t let the statistics discourage you as a female founder, but keep fighting for your business. And use the many resources and networks that are available to you. At DI, we advocate for the upcoming entrepreneurship strategy for Denmark to: - Set concrete targets and action plans to ensure equal access to capital. For example, EIFO should formulate diversity targets for their direct and indirect investments. - Support programs for female founders giving access to counselling, networking and match making opportunities. - Ensure more education in entrepreneurship from an early stage in the school system. We’re looking forward to pushing this agenda even further together with founders, ecosystem players and the politicians.
