“I think we have to start with this, what is the 'U' in UAS? It's ‘unmanned’ and, and I know, everybody knows that. But I wanted to put emphasis on it. I think it's important to just imagine that right now we're seeing unmanned aerial systems, we're also seeing unmanned maritime vessels, and we're starting to see unmanned ground activity. So as we think about the world of autonomous vehicles, autonomous aircraft, I think that unmanned piece is really, really important. Whether it's in single unmanned vehicles, or unmanned aerial systems; or it's in swarms that are operating autonomously, thinking through solutions... The idea that a robot, essentially, is operating in any domain, is something that we are just starting to see… and we're gonna see more and more of it over the course of the next couple of years in terms of what that looks like. Two companies, Cirrus Aircraft and HondaJet now offer an autonomous flight feature for emergencies. For several years before these recent developments, the aviation industry had been debating reduced or no pilot operations. In an important step for UAE (United Arab Emirates) air mobility growth, Embention, a global leader in avionics and Eanan Al Samma, a Dubai-based UAM (Urban Air Mobility) company, have signed an MOU agreement, reports a press release. The agreement covers the manufacturing of Embention’s Veronte Autopilot System in Dubai, UAE, with the intention of manufacturing a minimum of 3,000 per year. Eanan displayed its S‑700, an unmanned UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) with a payload capacity of up to 200 kg. Its ability to transport heavy loads between cities will boost efficiency, while smaller unmanned aerial vehicles are expected to carry smaller packages to customers. The release explains, “Embention, leaders in autopilots and components for UAV and UAM, contribute to the project with more than 16 years of experience in the autonomous vehicle control.
