After the recent layoffs at Daraz, it seemed like everyone on LinkedIn was expressing sympathy and claiming to be hiring to offer support. However, many of them were simply following the trend, and those who reached out discovered there were no actual job openings. It's unfair to exploit job seekers for likes and followers, especially during layoffs when people are already stressed about their livelihoods. To those affected by the Daraz layoffs, be careful. While some may genuinely want to help, others might try to take advantage of your situation. Trust your instincts and do your research before getting involved. Dear LinkedIn Family, Layoffs happen. But is it the end of the world? If we think of it, as the end of the world, then yes, the world stops there for us. What we need is a ray of hope, and again it's hard to bring it on. We work hard, every day, even miss many other things in life and suddenly one fine day, when we go to the office just like another day, we are received by the news- "you are no more required". It is indeed heartbreaking, shocking, disappointing and whatnot. But again, never give up. It's always said, a company never loves the employees, which may be true in some aspects. This is what is happening every day. Let's all extend a hand of hope to other fellow #linkedin job searchers. Post something that helps, another person get into a job, after a layoff or even a career break. It is so sad to see all the people that have been affected by all the layoffs that have been going on. I know that I am lucky to still have my job, for the moment, but I have the open to work banner on my profile because of the uncertainty of how long I will continue to have my position. Right now I am focusing on networking, revamping my resume and profile, and doing what I can to help anyone affected by layoffs. I hope that my reposting profiles, resumes, and hiring posts helps even a little bit, and that my network will help me in the unfortunate event that I lose my job as well. During this difficult time of layoffs, market uncertainty and the competition for hiring positions being so high, I feel potential candidates struggle to find orgs/jobs which might attract their skillset. So to help them, if you know any company that is hiring, please comment under this post so that candidates can check them out in one place. The bare minimum we should do in these times is to help each other genuinely. If you don’t know any company, please at least repost so that it could help people in our networks.

On my mind... Cruising through LinkedIn posts today and I've seen more news regarding unfortunate new layoffs within Tech. I have said this recently, but saying it again for the people in the back! I am here to help leverage my network for anyone that needs it. Please just let me know. One piece of advice to all the job seekers out there, lean on your networks to help get your name out there and in front of the right people who are actually hiring for these open roles. This is a simple piece of advice that can be a powerful tool when done the right way. As a former recruiter, I will say that it is 1000x more helpful when a job seeker / referral sends a link to the Company's Career Page with jobs they are interested in along with their resume. Companies may have a large, complex recruiting structure and they may have hundreds or even thousands of job postings up at the same time making it tough to sift through. Think about reaching out with as little friction as possible. Do the leg work and uncover what roles interest you and what you feel most qualified for AND send the links! Your connections would love to help you. Help them help you!!

Request for help / your input, please! Another year has started with many, many layoffs in tech (you can check this out yourself on layoffs.fyi if you don't follow these trends). I am lucky to have a decent network across the HR tech/recruitment space, and even luckier that many of those people have moved on to other industries. Though I am thankfully not hosting an 'Open to work' banner right now, I want to know - because I have been asked, and I'd like to add more answers to my arsenal - what are your tips in 2024 for job hunting after a layoff? Here are some of mine: -Have a few CVs for different roles that you can use as a base, tailor thoughtfully. -Use your network, and try to find new networks (local groups / meetups); your best shot at interviews is going to be referrals. -Ask for help, this is different than using your network! Reach out to trusted former colleagues/friends for feedback, motivation, and even mock interviewing to hone your pitch -Try to up-skill or do some professional development to keep yourself sharp, and again, motivated. -Treat your job search like your full-time job. This means that it's ok to have a weekend, to relax, and to spend time with family and friends.

⭐️⭐️ Leaning on my network here even though I've personally tapped into quite a bit of you... but i'm really struggling. Just like a lot of the other layoffs stories on linkedin, I've been applying for a lot of stuff.... But all rejection letters are not a single interview-- but still got those bills to pay and kids to feed....and a mind that needs to work!! 💡 Anyone have a warm handoff or into so somewhere hiring??? Outside of being an AE, I have a ton of transferable skills to take in other directions as well: -almost 10 years across various HR tech platforms and a strong understanding of their needs, especially in this financial climate -experience with larger companies and growing startups through acquisition - I'm innovative, analytical and always working to automate where able and improve process - huge promoter of company culture - I love to assist with onboarding and creating playbooks and processes docs - I've done market research, ICP development and sales strategy creation for those ICPs On top of being quirky but fun, seasoned and driven.... those all have to be useful somewhere right?
