Hello creatives in the global south, the north is using these blueprints to dominate over everyone with their narrative that we all buy-in. Our narrative is suffering, yet we have a huge story to tell and the world is hungry to hear it told by us(our history, and incredible brands building the continent, ). After checking this story in Mimi Kalinda's post, get some time to think about your contribution to shaping the narrative: https://lnkd.in/dGZt3Ehf Then let's go global. To outshine the rule, you have to understand it first. Check the benchmark for creativity by the mighty Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, so that you can create a story for that brand that will take it to a whole new level. I'm reading through it for the 2nd time. https://lnkd.in/dSDrXVSq #Lifelonglearning

One of the boldest presentations at the Cannes Festival was Mark Ritson's. In a packed room, Ritson questioned the true importance of creativity in advertising. His standout chart was bold: Cannes-awarded creatives from the past three years, measured by System 1, haven't outperformed the market average. This highlights a critical lesson: we often award creativity for its own sake, not its business impact. Cannes celebrates creativity, but Ritson's analysis challenges us to rethink our priorities. Creativity is important, but it's only one element of an entire marketing strategy and, when measured, is not one of the leading factors of success. #CannesFestival #MarkRitson #CreativityInAdvertising #BusinessImpact #MarketingInsights #RethinkPriorities

Strategy is: more imagination than process more personal than corporate more progressive than conservative more emotional than logical more creative than we strategists ever usually admit. Some great words from Tom Roach and a really interesting read. The above list is something I’ve been thinking about more and more in my work of late. How can I make my strategies more imaginative, more personal to me and my beliefs, more empathetic to the reader and more creativity driving and all whilst keeping them short, sharp and simple for the client to digest? Plus there are some absolutely brilliant and inspirational examples of both creative strategy and lateral thinking here, all of which are very deserving of awards. Particularly love the partners life example where they reframe life insurance and death insurance - genius! And a particularly clever and all too true use of an insight from Replens that “sex never gets old” to prove the point that it’s not just for young people. Love ads that give you those why didn’t I think of that moments 🤯 #strategy #creativestrategy #APG #planning #brandstrategy #storytelling #advertising

Creative strategy is alive! (Bonus points if you are now thinking of Short Circuit.) Having just been through two presentations for the APG Creative Strategy Awards, lovely to read these thoughts from final round juror Tom Roach. He closes with: "Strategy is: more imagination than process more personal than corporate more progressive than conservative more emotional than logical more creative than we strategists ever usually admit."
