Like so many, my parents moved to the US to pursue their dreams. I'm both grateful and proud to be an American. As a centrist, a capitalist, and a father, I believe our great country deserves to choose a President who is both a person of strong moral character and energetic enough to lead effectively. Unfortunately, a record number of Americans say they dislike both candidates.  This isn’t surprising. One is a convicted felon found to have committed fraud and sexual assault, who refused to accept the results of the last election, encouraged the violent invasion of the U.S. Capitol, called the threat of climate change a “hoax,” and repeatedly threatened to pull out of NATO while praising Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un. The other is an 81-year old who has struggled to communicate his key wins while in office and who 72% of Americans now believe isn't mentally fit to serve. Judging by the first debate, banking on Biden is risky for those who feel it imperative to prevent Trump’s reelection. There's still time for the President to stand down and urge his delegates to support the winner of a "mini primary" to be held ASAP - an idea recently floated by Rep. James Clyburn. While VP Kamala Harris could emerge as the nominee, unfavorable ratings over 50% suggest she'd struggle to get elected. So, then who? Can Democrats agree on another politician to rally behind on such short notice? The question isn’t who is the best overall candidate for President. It’s who might be better than having a second Trump term who could also get elected in the circumstances presented. We should seize this opportunity to opt-out of our normal primary system, which rewards extreme candidates, and instead select a centrist who can find middle ground and help stabilize and reinvigorate our democracy. An energetic outsider with high enough international name ID and favorables that viral support could be garnered quickly on social media. Someone who non-white voters, younger voters, and suburban woman would turn out for, and whose magnetic personality would attract large donors and grassroots contributions overnight. I believe Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson could win the mini-primary and go on to become President. The Rock is an actor, producer, and entrepreneur who embodies the American dream. A 52-year old family man who has repeatedly reinvented himself and a charismatic communicator with 400M followers on Instagram who understands how to sell ideas in our current media climate. He’s not beholden to special interests. As a political novice without well developed policy positions, he'd need to pick an experienced VP like Gov. Whitmer. In 2021, 45% of Americans said they'd support his candidacy. He's previously expressed interest but declined in order to spend time with family. Do you agree we should ask him to join a mini primary? If so, sign this petition, and I'll get it to The Rock. https://chng.it/XDjJKhyzDW #RocktheVote #WeWillRockYou #ForThoseAbouttoRock

With things like Project 2025 staring us in the face, is this really a moment where anyone gains *anything* (except for conservatives looking to take away rights) by saying “let’s vote for a professional wrestler turned actor”. Perhaps after 20 years of centrist liberals at the helm, maybe it’s time to focus on something a little more forward thinking and expecting *more* for our country’s progress?

Bryan Leach while I'm sure you mean well, please note that "The Rock" is a performer, no different than anyone else who makes a living on a stage. If he were your plumber, or the woman who serves your latte, or the recently retired next-door neighbor with the same characteristics you attribute to Dwayne Johnson...would you still be promoting them to be POTUS? We're not electing a figurehead or a Hollywood superhero, we're electing the leader of the free world. Be better.

Interesting thoughts Bryan. I agree with most everything you said except for the fact that we probably should stop trying to elect celebrities with a lot of likes and main stream popularity. We need someone with more depth in policy and governance. (But definitely not a career politician) Someone who understands business but also understands government. We are in a predicament as a country because we don’t look at the long game.

Bryan Leach Interesting points. However the big thing is that the presidential primary process is at the state level and President Biden has successfully campaigned and won more than the required number of delegates to be the nominee. Many of those state primaries have no mechanism for changing candidates after the primary with the exception of death of the nominee. So the idea of a mini primary is at best flawed and any violation of a states primary rules would certainly face significant legal hurdles. So replacing the elected candidate (Biden) with another would not be possible in many states.

I agree with most everything here except the endorsement of Dwayne Johnson. The position of President of the USA is too complex. Following your line of thinking, Arnold Schwarzenegger may be a better fit as he has experience as a governor and a better grasp of international issues and he’s 10x more intelligent and more capable than 45. The Dems have some viable candidates and it’s not too late to make a change. This is a critical week.

Nah. I’m beyond done w ‘celebrity’ presidents who’ve never been involved in even local municipal executive decisions or team building Just get behind Whitmer as the candidate if you’re serious about this. She’s far better than Dwayne Johnson

How about the Arnold? He has served before

This is a joke right? You have any other WWE celebrities you want to throw in the mix? Maybe get ole Hulk Hogan out for a cabinet role like Sec Def? Sadly the Iron Shiek passed away and cant be the Secretary of State. Anyway, your post seemed like you started doing some hardcore drugs half way through.
