Starting your engine from a cold start requires careful procedures. Here are 7 effective tips to do that: Initial start-up: Start your engine and let it run for 30 seconds to build oil pressure. This helps lubricate the engine parts. ❄ After the initial start, increase the idle speed to about 1200 RPM until the coolant reaches operating temperature. Once the coolant is warm, lower the idle before taking off. This ensures the engine is not strained. ❄ Cool down: For cooling down, maintain 1200 RPM for 2.5 minutes, then reduce to low idle for another 2.5 minutes. This helps in evenly distributing the engine heat. Clutch technique: Hold the clutch while starting to ease the starter's load. ❄ Aim for a 3-minute warm-up and cool-down, especially if the engine is still warm, to circulate the oil properly. Use of coolant heater: If your truck has a coolant heater, it can maintain the engine at a steady temperature, making it ready for an immediate start in the morning. Also, remember to complete any pre-trip checks.
