I'm thrilled to share the successful completion of a significant project: utilizing a comprehensive dataset containing medical data of patients to predict the likelihood of diabetes. With the invaluable guidance of my mentor, Sandip Gavit, and the steadfast support from the TechnoHacks EduTech community, we've achieved promising results in the field of healthcare analytics. This project delved into the intricate interplay of various medical indicators, from glucose levels to body mass index, employing advanced machine learning algorithms to forecast the probability of diabetes with precision. It's been a rewarding journey, leveraging data-driven insights to potentially improve early detection and patient outcomes. My sincere gratitude goes to Sandip for his mentorship and the TechnoHacks EduTech team for fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation. Having observed and supported Annamarie’s journey in this area from the very beginning, it is important that she share her experiences a founder with other mission-driven leaders. She chose to respond to unmet and poorly meet needs in newborn health with meaningful and unrelenting action. Collaborating effectively with other organizations always sounds strategically sensible, but such efforts most often fall short or fail because they require so much more work than one would hope! It frequently seems like an easy, fast track for start-ups. Simply crafting and signing an agreement to work together with another group can FEEL like a huge milestone, worthy of press releases and big fonts in an investor deck. However, it can be a deadly trap that lulls founders and their investors…for while. The road to failure is littered with such unmet promises. By contrast, Annmarie and her high integrity team have done, and are relentlessly doing, the work necessary to optimize such partnerships and deliver on the mutual value that brought them together: Real milestones!

My first startup was a global health NGO, focused on developing and deploying diagnostics and technologies into the places that needed them most. My second startup continued that work - this time in tool-building mode (but never losing sight of a health systems approach to support equity). That’s why it’s such a privilege to be invited to the #GrandChallenges annual meeting. 4 days, 15 scientific tracks, one of those 100% focused on medical devices and AI in maternal, newborn and child health (yay!)….amazing opportunity to learn + share our small team’s, nimble, partnership-based approach to developing tech for the most resource-challenged and remote settings. And this is why I always make room in my life to consciously find time to ask questions and understand. Today, at Wellster Healthtech Group's Bits & Pretzels #HealthTech #Lunch, I had the pleasure to listen to Dr. Sven Jungmann 'Navigating Real-World Patient #Data.' Here are my five takeaways for any startup or business owner in the health tech industry (but not only there): 1. Start early to establish a solid data foundation while simultaneously addressing potential objections, particularly data protection and obtaining sufficient consent. 2. In the medical world, needs are not necessarily wants. User research and user experience are crucial. Maintain a dialog, especially with the scientific community, by involving them in product development. Embrace discomfort during discussions between different teams, such as medical, R&D, and marketing. 3. Establish a process designed for scaling up the business that leverages your strengths, including a comprehensive publishing strategy beyond PubMed. 4. Align your evidence strategy with your company's north star. Avoid overwhelming yourself; take it easy and identify the right moment when the time is ripe. 5. Collaborate with trust-building institutions, such as independent universities, to build trust, contribute to the ecosystem, and access functions (like statistics) that startups typically lack. Our Community has incredible resources for founders, healthcare professionals, advocates, and more! 🎓 First Cohort for Femtech Medical Consultant Certificate: We kicked off our first cohort for the Femtech Medical Consultant Certificate! This is the first-of-its-kind educational program for healthcare professionals looking to get into femtech. We hit our maximum registration goal and were able to offer 2 full scholarships! 📊 Pitch Review & Support: We helped one of our FemInnovator companies review and revise their pitch for an important industry partnership! We even provided support at the pitch event itself. 👥 Partnerships: We explored and solidified several key partnerships related to go-to-market consultations and resources, pitch education and assistance, fundraising and grant assistance, and more!
