Tuesday 28 November in Paris at the Bureau International des Expositions the world will vote for the venue of EXPO 2030
THE MAYOR OF ROME, ROBERTO GUALTIERI:
''THE WORLD REFLECTS ON WHETHER ALL EVENTS MUST BE BOUGHT WITH PETRODOLLARS".
"Battle not only for Rome but for future multilateral events. … I think we did the best we could. I have made my contribution as Mayor, but everyone is committed, now we have to see if all this work will bring the votes. If the countries believe that all the big international events, from the World Cup to the Olympics to the Expo, now have to go to the Gulf because they are bought with petrodollars. … they are done there because you have more money, we have to accept it. It's a choice, but we say to the world: watch out! … With our proposal, we have put forward the best in an effective and consistent campaign. I am confident because I tend to have the optimism of the will. … We feel that we represent a different model of multilateral events, more in keeping with the spirit of these global institutions, which were not made to be bought by the richest of them all. If Rome wins, it will be a wonderful thing for the city, but also for the future of these multilateral events, it is a battle not only for Rome, but has a general significance.
