More tools = more fire 🔥. Here is one of our new toys - The Firefly from SPT Labtech. When making genes, we're usually moving colourless liquids around. DNA from two wells is mixed with enzymes in another, making a longer piece of DNA. On the surface that isn't very exciting, but you do get to play with cool liquid-handling robots like this one. They remove human errors and increase the number of genes we can make every week. What's happening in this clip? ↳ Pipette tips are picked up. ↳ Samples (microlitres) are taken from 96-well plates at the back. ↳ They're transferred to a 384-well plate. ↳ A dispenser adds water to all of those samples. And the lights at the end are, well, just a nice touch. 💚 --- This is what cutting-edge DNA synthesis looks like. Don't miss out on the latest developments; follow me (Steve Harvey) or Camena Bioscience to be part of the journey.

Where can I find me one of these for my kitchen? I feel like nanolitre macarons might be the next big thing.

I do love watching the dragonfly in motion and considering that it used to be used for crystallography, it's come leaps and bounds on its application for gene making.

Oh baby oh baby. Why can't I hear the robot Steve! I was expecting some ASMR experience here 😂 Loved using tech like this when I did crystallography. 60 nanoliter drops. Who at Camena Bioscience gets to play with this new toy?!

It’s missing the Daft Punk tune (blame J-Ney Antique for linking that video). But I still like a good lab automation toy! Enjoy playing 😁

It always fascinates me and makes me intrigued to use it whenever I do qPCR or genotyping of large numbers of samples.
