DYK that our SVP of Data and Analytics, Ben Miller, champions democratized data across the social good sector? 👏 Ben is the chair of the Fundraising Effectiveness Project (FEP), a joint effort between the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP Global) and the GivingTuesday Data Commons to help #DoersOfGood move the needle using data. 📊 Without the ability to make data-driven decisions for your organization, it becomes more challenging to acquire new donors and turn those people into lifelong supporters. That’s why we focus on making Bonterra’s comprehensive suite of products the best in the social good space. And it’s why we share takeaways from the biggest day of generosity with #GivingTuesday.

GOOD POINT: This morning I was invited to attend a breakfast with a group of nonprofit leaders. I don't get invited to events like this very often (I'm usually the one hosting), so I gratefully accepted. The table of a dozen or so leaders represented organizations that are big and small - domestic and international in focus - and working with a different structures and systems. I sat at the table and listened as each person shared challenges, ideas and even a few success stories. While there were lots of great takeaways this morning, one piece of advice has stuck with me: Create goals that help your data team prioritize. If the goal is to raise more money, or hit a financial target - then anything that impacts revenue (which by the way is everything) is the priority. A goal like that doesn't help your data team prioritize, so create goals that do. I love this advice because 1) as a life-long fundraiser, I've been guilty of creating unhelpful goals and 2) you can swap the words 'data team' for most any department and the statement holds. So, thank you Civis Analytics for the invite and here's to creating goals that help us all prioritize better!
