It's no secret that NJ's #recreationalcannabis laws can be difficult to navigate, especially when it comes to land use.
But at Nishuane Group, we’ve helped municipalities throughout the state draft regulations for this emerging land use, reviewed cannabis land use applications for our client Land Use Boards and represented applicants seeking site plan approval for #cannabisretail enterprises. 👩⚖️
In fact, just last week we represented an applicant appearing before the Belleville Planning Board. And we'd love to help you too. 🤝🏾
What's the current state of the NJ #recreationalmarijuana landscape? See an updated list here: https://lnkd.in/dwhWNR4q#njcannabis#njlanduse#njplanningfirm#njplanners
The clock is ticking... Illinois' cannabis social equity program faces a crisis as half of licensed retailers struggle to open shop. With 96 licensees at risk of losing permits, the state's celebration of its 100th social equity dispensary rings hollow. Zoning issues, investor concerns, and legal battles have plagued the rollout, forcing some to sell their licenses to large multi-state operators. Is this truly creating an accessible industry for all? From shipping containers to Main Street: Illinois' cannabis social equity program reveals a tale of two realities. While some retailers flourish, others face license expiration and financial ruin. Zoning restrictions and lack of suitable real estate plague minority communities, creating "cannabis deserts" in rural areas. As large operators dominate, can small businesses still carve out their niche in this budding industry? Only time will tell.

All truth comes to light, eventually! The unethical leaders will be called out! The pervasive corruption and unethical leadership is destroying the lives and health of so many people, and it’s what Capitalism fosters in its business culture for the maximization of profits! This is why I have refused funding from VCs even when they offered it to me many years ago! Too many VCs are greedy, corrupt, and lack ethics. Too many VCs are extractive by any means necessary and this story shows you how.
Trent Hancock love your ethics, accountability, integrity! This is a perfect example of why our economic structure is corrupt and full of unconscionable practices by ill people. Thank you for trying to hold the new owners accountable to change their unconscionable behavior. The truth is exposed now and they will only get so far.
The maximization of profit over health continues to harm innocent people, and leaders with ethics! I’m so sick of this destructive and unethical economic system harming so many people. This economic system has always been so extractive, violent, brutal, exploitative, racist, and sexist. So many unethical leaders are accountable to no one, and it has to change!
This story is appalling, but not new. The company didn’t listen to your words of truth, wisdom, and integrity! Love that you are a whistle blower on this serious issue! Thank you!
Venture Capital mixed with greedy and unethical investors is not a good mix. The new owners and investors of this company didn’t care about the health and compliance practices, and procedures for growing healthy cannabis and disposing of moldy cannabis. It’s unbelievable, but believable, what big capitalists will do for the maximization of profit!
Shayney and I were fired on Valentine’s Day from the dispensary we manage because:
1) we refused to sell moldy cannabis
2) we demanded the company become compliant with the state on cameras.
3) we demanded that the company start paying the sales taxes we were collecting for the state.
I know I always talk about how small businesses typically grow better cannabis, but what I’ve seen since we sold our Oregon company and moved to Montana has been disgusting and unfit for human consumption.
Our entire dispensary crew quit over us being fired, so if you need some great employees message me!
We only sold our company in Oregon and moved to Montana because the owners agreed to give us 50% of the company after we got residency. The company has more debt than its value, so turning it around would have been the only way to increase value and raise capital. After we moved here they couldn’t even show us basic books and we found out the debt was over twice as high as they originally claimed.
We have been cannabis growers for decades and could have easily fixed the bug and mold problems in the grow, but they wouldn’t let us see the grow. Employees were telling us that black mold is all over the walls. Unbelievably, flower like this is still passing testing and being sold to consumers. We found dozens of batches with Botrytis and PM all over it. One of our employees was making pre-rolls out of this batch the day I found this. I told her to stop making pre-rolls because we are sending it back, and that night she had an asthma attack that put her in the hospital. She was diagnosed with bronchitis, and I believe it was exposure to mold.
