Hello world. It’s been a while since I left architecture. Two years ago, I started building my startup - Revar. It all started with my passion in 3D design since childhood. I’ve always wanted a better medium to create in 3D, from sketches, to mini games and social worlds. Years of architecture training does not make it easier - creating a meaningful 3D experience today requires coding or mastering tools like Unity with steep learning curve. That is why Andrew Zhong and I started Revar - a no-code app that makes 3D easy to create, even for children. It can be a fun game or a relaxed social world. One of my active projects is a live video -> wallpaper app for Windows, which I briefly previewed here some weeks ago. While brainstorming 'interesting' features, I had the idea that it should be possible to estimate the depth of an image using AI. Imagine, simply being able to drag/drop and image, and having an instant '3D' scene (2D plane + depth -> heightmap) with simple mouse interactivity.
