It’s been a month since we marked the end of #Pride2024. However, a commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion goes beyond Pride Month. This is why at HGS - Hinduja Global Solutions, we chose to celebrate the occasion with the theme #PrideEveryDay. But what does this look like in practice? It means enforcing inclusive policies that extend equal treatment regardless of sexual orientation and identity. It means educating employees about LGBTQ+ issues through sustained sensitization and awareness programs. It means celebrating LGBTQ+ employees for their achievements and making them feel seen and heard. Essentially, it means moving from symbolic gestures to tangible action. The LGBTQ+ community has faced prejudice, exclusion, and violence. While these problems are becoming less prevalent, it’s still important to show people that you are creating a safe workplace for all different types of people. Celebrating Pride opens up communication, which helps everyone in the company understand one another better. You might even find that if celebrating Pride paves the way for discussing other diversity and equality issues. Promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace creates a healthy, safe work environment where employees feel supported. There are lots of different ways you could celebrate Pride in your workplace. You don’t have to do anything big or showy. Often, smaller ways of celebrating Pride are likely to be better received, appearing more genuine and less about brand-promotion. Of course, you might have LGBTQ+ community members or allies who want to do a bigger show of support, so the most important thing is to tailor your Pride celebration to your workplace and listen to your team. Here are some ideas of how to celebrate Pride at work. With remote working still common, you should include some celebrations for people in your office as well as remote workers, making sure that everyone feels included. 1. Host an inclusion workshop There’s always something new to learn about how to be an inclusive ally of the LGBTQ+ community. Look at hosting a workshop for your company and include user-generated videos for diversity of your LGBTQ+ employees or customers saying what Pride means to them – if they’re comfortable with it, of course. A recent study involving Indian LGBTQ+ employees and Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) leaders found that 50% of the respondents who have been open about their LGBTQ+ identity at work feel that their organizations openly embrace and support the queer community. Members of the queer community who are out and supported in the workplace have higher trust in their employers, higher satisfaction levels, and lower stress. Moreover, an increasing percentage of the workforce prefers to work in organizations that actively promote inclusivity. In today’s time, D&I has become increasingly important to all employees. Especially when it comes to choosing which employer to work for. This begs the question, is your organization taking active and meaningful steps, both internally and externally, to create a more welcoming and accepting environment? Here’s a look at some measures organizations can take to lead LGBTQIA+ inclusion beyond superficial measures: https://lnkd.in/gttzbW5 #diversity #lgbtq #inclusion #diversityequityinclusion #hrconsulting #dfrens

🏳️🌈How to celebrate Pride Month without corporate rainbow washing 🏳️🌈 We know that HRD’s share a deep commitment to celebrating Pride Month (and any other month of the year) in a meaningful and authentic way. They understand the historical significance of Pride Month and why it is so deeply significant to their employees and the LGBTQ+ community. Well aware of the dangers of ‘corporate rainbow washing’ during Pride Month, HRDs understand the harmful, long-lasting impact this can have on employee engagement. “Rainbow washing” is when a business uses LGBTQ+ symbols and themes for their own commercial gain, but without showing any real commitment to LGBTQ+ rights and equality in practice. So, simply ‘washing’ your logo or brand in the colours of the rainbow for Pride Month, without doing anything meaningful, simply doesn’t cut it. Let us walk you through some steps you can take to celebrate Pride Month meaningfully - and leave a lasting impact all year round, not just for one month: 🦉Commit to year-round inclusion Show a consistent approach by reviewing your policies, initiatives and company benefits to ensure they are inclusive and welcoming. 🦉 Get people involved Create, or elevate, your LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Groups to offer helpful peer support and ensure accountability. 🦉Educate and raise awareness Host inclusion workshops with LGBTQ+ advocates or experts and hold events that cover the history of the LGBTQ+ movement. 🦉Share stories and realities Invite colleagues to share their stories and experiences from a range of LGBTQ+ voices. Allies can then help spread the word that inclusivity is celebrated by your business. 🦉 Listen to your employees Avoid second guessing; instead gather input from LGBTQ+ and non-LGBTQ+ individuals to shape your inclusion strategies. We’d love to help you celebrate Pride Month meaningfully. If you’d like to talk it through, please get in touch. #PrideMonth #Inclusivity #rainbowwashing #Awareness ********************************************* Hi I’m Sally.
