Keep Employee Salaries Current. When salaries change, your benefits provider must be notified. If this is not done, there can be a large liability to the employer. Many benefits are income-based; life insurance can often be 1X or 2X salary, and disability insurance is typically based on a percentage of income. It is important to ensure the benefits provider has current income figures so that your employees’ coverage matches their income. If a raise is not communicated, the employer can become liable to pay for the top-up amount NOT covered by the plan. This also applies to hourly employers; any change in their workload will change their earnings and in turn, their benefits. #thezavitzway #groupinsurance
