Automakers and dealers are implementing manual processes and getting creative in light of the CDK outage. Here’s one example — a letter from Kia to its dealers:
We need VCI and AFS to step up, too! Currently, you cannot contract without CDK if that is your DMS.
As a Kia, Toyota and Mitsu GM, and Ford Dealer Principal, I have not commented since this began. It's too serious to make a quip. Is this the "Twilight Zone"... Ever heard of a one-pay? For years, we delivered based on credit (scores came later) and structure with an occasional recontract, and prior to that... pure structure to spot-deliver. On a particular "100 Sold" Super Saturday at T&C Ford in CLT, a transformer blew and we delivered on hand-written (should know how to do this.) or one-pay contracts. and delivered over 100 units. No excuses, just results. Find a way...
Sounds like the 4 square is making a comeback! #greenmarkersonly
We’re all in this together!
I can't imagine why anyone still uses cdk. Way to many better options.
Just keep selling selling selling !!!! Our leads don’t stop our clients want to be served they are not aware of CDK
Ok guys. In full disclosure before I say anything, I LOVE Podiums AI platform. Period. That being said, this is a solution to lead routing that some may have not thought of especially if they have not been presented the product. Although Podium integrates with your DMS and CRM it requires a routing to their platform as well as your CRM. The dealers I work with that utilize Eleads (which I also love) along with Podium s AI are not missing leads and are at least able to still get customers in the door. Just offering up an easy solution to an extremely complex and difficult issue. If you sign up and get onboarded quickly (which can happen) then your leads can be worked by sales as well as AI through podium. Once Eleads and CDK are back in board, all conversations can be integrated back into the crm. If you need assistance on someone to contact then hit me up in my messages and I will get you routed. We have to work together as a team right now! Let’s show the country how the automotive industry comes together in a crisis! #podium #carbusinessrules #partners
It's nice to see an OEM proactively helping their dealer navigate these uncharted waters. Cash Flow using KIA's suggestions should not be impacted much if the dealer submits daily, even though that submission is more cumbersome. Let's pray that customer information was not compromised. KUDOS to KIA; hopefully, others will follow this lead.
You gotta react business does not stop Kia is reacting good on them Shows that they have creative leaders and thinking outside the "box" Way to go Kia

1moFrom my prior experience of being hacked and shut down for days and weeks a few years ago, one thing will always stand out is how resilient and relentless our people are. We found ways to deliver cars and write RO's manually not only without DMS but without a PC since all computers were on lockdown. Those type of heroics, creativity and resiliency is what makes companies great - this is the time for true leadership if you have CDK in your store.
