8 Years! The sheer amount of time it takes to go from idea to product in #HealthTech has humbled me greatly. I wrote this post 8 years ago. I wanted to make a web app that helped #FamilyCaregivers in the #ICU. At the Family Room we believe that humans heal humans. Technology should exist in #healthcare to support relationships, not to replace them. Ironically, its those relationships that have taken me a long time to build, but been the secret sauce to making this dream become a reality. I had an idea -- based on my lived experience. Once I got it structured enough on paper to actually make sense, I sought out others. Not just people who could do the work, but people who could connect with the purpose of the work at a level that was just shy of crazy. Even in development, its always been about the humans. We are working diligently to secure the last $200,000 cash to get us over the development hump so that we can launch our direct-to-consumer product in H1 of 2025. In his discussion at The Product Folks' #Insurjo'24, Anshumani Ruddra focused on "How to Navigate Product Challenges" during the third session. Scenario #2 Practo 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: Practo is a digital healthcare platform primarily used for booking appointments with doctors. The PM team noticed that users LTV was short as they downloaded the app in times of need and later uninstalled the app, leading to high uninstall rates. It raised the question of who the ideal customer person (ICP) at Practo is and for whom product features should be prioritized. 𝐔𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐲: Who are we building for? Who is our power user? What are their needs? 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: After extensive customer research, user interviews, and visits to clinics and hospitals, the team recognized a person who took responsibility for the healthcare needs of the entire family, and this became the ICP for Practo. 𝐈𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚 (𝐈𝐂𝐏): - Women in mid-30s - Take care of in-laws, parents, spouse, children, and their health - Book 8 appointments a year - Need to keep track of medication, health, records, prescriptions, etc - Repeat booking: alerts for booking - Re-ordering medicines - Set alarms or notifications for medications #productdevelopment #productmanagement #customerpersona

Continuation from previous post. The #monitoringandcontrol phase By the fourth month, the #prototype was ready for #testing. Initial tests revealed some issues with the accuracy of #healthmetrics, #paymentgateway as well #crashed due to some problems that could be handled but was ignored by the #developmentteam. Esther and her team worked tirelessly to resolve these issues, while Sarah refined the #design based on #userfeedback. Benjamin' #marketing efforts paid off as they generated #buzz on #socialmedia and people started becoming aware of Clincx. This gave the team an extra boost of #motivation. The #closingphase As the deadline approached, the pressure intensified. The final #testingphase revealed minor #bugs, which the #developmentteam quickly fixed. Doctors were on boarded to the platform, as well as nurses. With Benjamin making sure ads and social media campaign were running. The #launch day arrived. Bolanle gathered her #team for a final meeting. "We've climbed a tough mountain, but we've made it to the top together," she said, proud of their #collectiveeffort. The #product #launch was a resounding success. "Clincx" received rave reviews for solving the problem faced with patient waiting for long hours to see the doctor or to secure an appointment date. Its innovative features and seamless #interface for users was also commended. The team celebrated their hard-earned victory. Summary, Bolanle reflected on the journey. The project had its #challenges, but with a clear plan, strong #teamwork, and #effectivecommunication, they had achieved their #goal. It is a Hospital Information Management Systems application that provides you with not only access to your medical information and history, but also allows you to schedule appointments and receive reminders for check-ups and medication intake.
