Section 2 TGC During my study in Taylors University, I have developed a lot of new skills, and in this semester's study, I can see that these skills are of unlimited benefit to my study and future work. Skills such as Writing skills, Communication skills and Researching skills ,which can be summarized by Taylor's Graduate Competence (TGC).It will also help me in my future career as a lawyer. In addition, as a freshman majoring in law, I also benefited a lot from this semester's study. As an international student, I also experienced many different forms of homework, such as group work, presentations and video assignments, which greatly exercised my interpersonal skills, communication skills and speaking skills. The emergence of this series of forms has improved my ability to open my mouth in public, and also improved my confidence. In addition, when I studied in China, students rarely practiced independent learning, so my independent learning ability has been greatly exercised here. I will make more reasonable use of my time outside the classroom to study, think about what I have learned, and constantly look up similar cases to confirm whether my understanding is correct. What's more, unlike what I learned in the past only on the surface, my current study can also continuously integrate existing knowledge into life to study and verify the rationality of the existence of these knowledge. All in all, the new learning environment not only brings me great challenges, but also brings me great progress. The study of only one semester has brought me a lot of new skills and made me look forward to my future study and life in Taylors, so as to improve my knowledge reserve and ability in law and strive to become an excellent lawyer in the future.

Student Legal Practitioner| Legal Researcher| Deputy Head Clinician of the University of Uyo Law Clinic| Secretary General Of CLASFON University of Uyo Chapter|Virtual/Legal Assistant|
May it please this Honorable Court to hear Victor Umana, Esq. The sheer depth of joy and fulfillment I experienced during my debut appearance in the High Court of Lawsan on May 15, 2024, as a Defendant Counsel, resonates profoundly within me. As a diligent 400-level law student at the esteemed Faculty of Law, University of Uyo, the privilege of advocating for my client's interests in the pursuit of justice is an honor I hold dear. This momentous occasion, unlike the simulated settings of moot or mock competitions, marked my immersion into the authentic realm of legal proceedings. My journey thus far, enriched by internships and engagements with seasoned practitioners, has been dedicated to cultivating a profound understanding of legal practice, particularly within the domain of litigation. While some perceive litigation as a demanding and technical pursuit, I perceive it as a noble contest among professionals, cherishing its complexities and challenges. Addressing a presiding Judge is an awe-inspiring responsibility that demands courage, eloquence, and unyielding confidence. Unlike the forgiving environment of moot court exercises, where mistakes serve as valuable learning experiences, the stakes are infinitely higher when advocating for real clients. I've come to understand that as a lawyer, projecting competence and self-assurance is paramount, earning the respect and trust of both the bench and the bar. My unwavering passion for the law propels me forward, echoing the sentiments of Sir Itofa Ivarah, who rightly emphasized the importance of discovering one's purpose and pursuing it relentlessly. For me, success transcends mere material wealth; it entails leaving an indelible imprint on the fabric of legal history in Nigeria. It's about placing trust in divine guidance and having unwavering confidence in my abilities. Grateful for the journey thus far, I am cognizant that even greater heights lie ahead, awaiting my pursuit. #ExperienceTEMPLARS #LawyerAspirant #LegalCareer #ProfessionalDevelopment

Have you been finding it difficult to read and understand cases? Come closer, these tips will help you easily understand and analyze the next case you read... The 5th lecture of my virtual internship with Chaman Law Firm was another enlightening session. It was on the topic: Case Analysis and Legal Strategy. The lecturer was taught by Barr. Okaibe Rita. Judicial precedents form a major part of the body of laws in Nigeria. As a law student, the importance of a proper understanding of case analysis cannot be over-emphasized. You literally cannot avoid it, you must come across cases one way or the other. The following steps should be followed to properly analyze a case: 💡Read slowly: To fully grasp the details contained in the case, you must read carefully with watchful eyes. 💡 Don't just rely on the headnotes: A headnote is a summary of the key legal points in the case. As a legal research, you shouldn't not rely on this because it is sometimes misleading and doesn't tell the full story of what transpired in the case. 💡 Identify the facts: This is simply what brought the parties to court or what gave rise to the legal dispute. 💡 Identify the issues: The legal issues are the disputed facts brought to court for determination. For example: In an action for libel, an issue for determination may be; “Whether or not the publication made in the defendant's newspaper was libelous and reduced the reputation of the plaintiff in the eyes of right-thinking members of the public?" 💡 Identify the decision: What conclusion has the court come to? 💡 Pay attention to the judicial reasoning: This is “How and why the court arrived at the conclusion it did?" It includes the court's analysis and justification for deciding on the case the way it did. 💡 Identify the ratio decidendi and obiter dictum: The ratio is the main decision of the court and it is binding. The obiter dictum is just the court's thinking and it's merely persuasive. Thank you Chaman Law Firm for this opportunity. These tips will definitely help me understand the next case I have to read. #CLFVIP #ChamanLawFirm #lawstudent #legalintern

𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐡, 𝐁𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬 Link: https://lnkd.in/gbretGB9 In today's Kathmandu Post, 6 points about young lawyers in the midst of Nepal Bar Conference: 𝟏. The young legal practitioner is not the future, but an integral present of today's legal practice. 𝟐. The Bar admits young lawyers, but does not adopt or foster them. 𝟑. The Bar must establish connection with the latest generation of young lawyers to understand their needs and concerns. 𝟒. The Bar should take initiatives to create a platform to bring together lawyers of different generations for collaboration and exchange of knowledge. 𝟓. The Bar should leverage its association with other industry, commerce, banking associations to organize internship programs and career expos. 𝟔.The responsibility of the Bar lies in ensuring that the graduates who passed out after taking the Bar examination do not pass-out from the legal profession.

[📖 Hong Kong Lawyer October 2023 - Cover Story] The October issue of Hong Kong Lawyer, the official journal of The Law Society of Hong Kong, is out now! We interviewed the Dean of the Faculty of Law, The University of Hong Kong (“HKU”), Dean Fu Hualing. As Dean of the Faculty of Law at HKU, Professor Fu Hualing is keenly aware of the importance of innovation in legal education. His job is important in guiding and shaping the next generation of legal professionals. Effectively doing this requires hiring high-quality professors, restructuring curricula and incorporating technology into course work that allows both faculty and students to keep up with new emerging practice areas and the changing demands on the legal profession. The past few years have been marked by change, and those that lead the education of legal professionals have to adapt to the new environments, the confluence of Chinese law and common law, new technologies and new ways of working for the legal profession. In this month’s Cover Story, he shared with us the initiatives introduced by the Faculty of Law to prepare students for the modern legal profession. 🌐 Read more: https://bit.ly/hklcs1023e #TheLawSocietyOfHongKong #香港律師會 #HongKongLawyer #CoverStory #HKU #香港大學

Ugandan Lawyer - Programme Coordinator - Faculty of Law - Cavendish University Uganda - | Associate - MAALC Advocates | Cavendish & Fordham Law | Legal Practice/Bar - ILPD Rwanda & LDC Uganda.
👣👣👣👣Law School Journey - Discipline, Patience, Focus, Reading (No LinkedIn space for more words)😓: A Decision to Make! I hope this finds you all in good health and high spirits. Today, I wanted to share a significant milestone in a friend’s professional journey and seek your valuable insights. Seems to have no love for litigation. Now, standing at this crossroad, finds himself faced with a crucial decision, choosing between Law Development Center Uganda (LDC) and pursuing a Master's in Law. (USA) LDC, renowned for its comprehensive legal education programs, offers an exceptional curriculum that combines theoretical knowledge with practical training. The prospect of immersing himslf in a rigorous program, engaging with esteemed faculty, and acquiring hands-on experience through internships and moot trials is undeniably appealing. LDC's reputation for producing competent legal professionals is a testament to the quality of education it provides. On the other hand, pursuing a Master's in Law presents an opportunity to delve deeper into a specific area of legal expertise. This academic pursuit would enable him to conduct research, engage in scholarly discussions, and gain a comprehensive understanding of the latest developments in the legal landscape. A Master's degree could open doors to diverse career paths (international), including academia, policy-making, or specialized legal practice. While both paths offer unique advantages, I personally attended my masters before attending LDC. My observation however is how much more I belive I would have enjoyed my masters had I attended LDC first. I found myself pondering several factors when offering advice to this colleague/friend: 1️⃣ Career Goals: Which option aligns more closely with his long-term aspirations and desired career trajectory? 2️⃣ Specialization: Does he seek a broader legal education (LDC) or a focused expertise in a specific area (Master's)? 3️⃣ Practical Experience: How important is gaining practical legal skills and hands-on experience during his studies? 4️⃣ Networking Opportunities: Which option provides better networking connections with professionals and peers in the legal field? 5️⃣ Financial Considerations: What are the financial implications of each choice, including tuition fees, living expenses, and potential scholarships or funding opportunities? I found career advising a hard job to do. #LawSchoolJourney #CareerDecision #LegalEducation #LDC #MastersInLaw #LinkedInNetworking
