Carey Olsen advised India-based investment firm Quantum Advisors India on the launch of its Jersey fund, Q India Advantage Fund. The Carey Olsen team advising Quantum Advisors comprised partner Chris Griffin, regulatory specialist Sophie Hancock and associate Tshogofatso Dhlamini. Chris Griffin commented: "We greatly enjoyed helping Quantum to increase its distribution channels with its Jersey feeder, particularly given the exciting Indian growth strategy. This project shows that the JPF can act as a perfect add-on to an existing fund structure which may be domiciled elsewhere and is struggling to maximise its investor universe." As private equity continues to transcend from an "institutional-exclusive" asset class and garners more attention from private investors and family offices worldwide, it is key for new participants to get immersed and understand the main features and embedded risks in PE before deploying capital. This report published by Campden Wealth and Titanbay provides a deep overview of the asset class and important insights from experienced PE investors. Below we highlight some of the most relevant conclusions: - Before deploying capital in PE, investors need to understand their liquidity needs and capital base, as private equity investments are long-term and capital-intensive. - The learning curve in PE investing takes longer than in other asset classes. Investors should get deeply acquainted with the different strategies available within PE and segment the risk/return profiles that are more aligned with their portfolio objectives. - Not all returns are created equal. A rigorous due diligence and selection process, as well as diversification (by vintage, manager, strategy, etc.), added to a clear understanding of performance metrics and how they are achieved, are crucial pillars for investors to manage a successful PE portfolio. - Access is key. Besides the above, investing with PE's top performers can be challenging due to constrained access. Investors should develop strong networks and try to partner with experienced industry players to help them gain access to the real Alpha creators. #PrivateEquity #AlternativeInvestments #RigorousDueDiligence #InvestmentTrends #ResearchOfAlternativeManagers #RiskcontrolOverAssetManagement #ROAM #PlacementAgent #AlwaysRaisingTheBar https://lnkd.in/ehSTYyaT

Alternative investment funds (AIFs) are like special investment clubs for rich people and big institutions. They invest money in assets you can’t usually buy through regular methods like stocks or bonds. Moreover, affluent investors prefer these funds for their ability to diversify portfolios and potentially yield higher returns. AIFs invest in various assets including real estate, hedge funds, private equity, commodities, and other alternative instruments. Very important update for Small Cap and Midcap investors 👇👍
Important Update: Several small-cap and mid-cap investment funds might impose restrictions on both systematic investment plans (SIPs) and lump-sum investments. Additionally, these funds may enforce limitations on withdrawal amounts. What prompts these measures? SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) is urging fund management companies to exercise caution due to significant inflows into small-cap schemes. For further information, please refer to the following thread. 🧵 What's the latest development? SEBI has recognized the emergence of speculation in the mid and small-cap segments. Consequently, it has instructed all fund management firms to formulate protective measures within the next 21 days to safeguard investors. Below are some preemptive actions recommended by SEBI.👇 1. Controlled Influx SEBI has directed fund management companies to regulate the inflow into their schemes. Various strategies can be employed for this purpose. Fund houses have the option to restrict the amount of investment allowed through SIP or lump sum. Alternatively, they may cease accepting new inflows altogether. The approach adopted by fund houses varies depending on the size of the scheme. Historically, several fund management companies have implemented diverse strategies. For instance, funds like SBI Small Cap, Mirae Asset Emerging Bluechip, among others, have previously employed such measures. 2. SEBI has instructed fund management firms to "rebalance" their portfolios to mitigate the adverse effects of redemption pressure on investors. Consequently, schemes might consider augmenting their exposure to large-cap stocks while maintaining a higher cash reserve to accommodate redemption requests. 3. Safeguarding Investors Against Premature Redemptions During a market downturn, an influx of redemption requests from investors could compel fund managers to offload investments under duress, potentially affecting other investors. Therefore, SEBI aims to prevent such scenarios by urging fund management companies to take preventive measures. What are the options for fund houses? They could impose restrictions on the amount available for redemption within a defined timeframe. This measure aims to prevent sudden, chaotic withdrawal rushes. Certainly, each fund house will devise its own unique strategies. Therefore, it's a matter of observing and waiting to see the various approaches implemented. SEBI and fund houses will take the necessary steps. As an investor, you also have some important tasks to complete. What actions can you take? Ensure you assess how your fund is mitigating risks. #PinnacleFitech #mutualfunds #sebi #amfi #alert #investmentstrategy #mutualfundssahihai #smallcaps #midcap #riskmanagement #riskandcompliance #riskadvisory
