🍁Happy Canada Day, everyone!🍁 Today is a different post where I share a part of my journey with you—a path filled with non-traditional learning and growth. My path wasn't traditional—I wrote my first line of code at 8, hacking HTML and JavaScript in the 90s as a teenager; I dropped out of high school but later earned my degree in adult education. I completed a one-year professional web development diploma. After that, I built software professionally using ASP/VBScript and .NET/VB.NET, then soon transitioned to C# and never looked back. Freelancing became my next adventure, and I focused on .NET, ASP.NET, and C#. For over a decade, I served clients while constantly learning and evolving. Along the way, I completed a part-time bachelor's degree in computer science, taught programming at college, and conducted enterprise training. In 2013, I created my GitHub account, using GitHub for Education (the early days of that fantastic program) for teaching from 2014 to 2017. By 2017, I launched my current blog and started to develop in the open with my first few open-source projects. I began blogging about 20 years ago, and although I blog less now, I've written three books and am currently active on LinkedIn. 📚Self-education was a necessity in my career since I too often ended up the senior on the team.📚 💡My journey taught me invaluable lessons: - School is not for everyone, so don't let that stop you. - Embracing continuous learning is the key to long-term growth. - Self-learning is challenging but incredibly rewarding. - Teaching others enhances your own skills. - Sharing knowledge fosters mutual growth. - Humility and patience go a long way. 🌟Over the decades, my allies have been side projects, prototypes, experiments, books, and those who supported me. Remember, every project is an opportunity to grow.🌟 🚀 Keep pushing the boundaries of what's possible, and keep learning!🚀 💬Feel free to share part of your journey or some of your own takeaways in the comments! 🍁Happy Canada Day!🍁 #CanadaDay #DotNet #TechJourney #ContinuousLearning #CodingLife #GitHub #GitHubEducation #Growth

🌟Over the decades, my allies have been side projects, prototypes, experiments, books, and those who supported me. Remember, every project is an opportunity to grow.🌟 I just remembered to add that reading blog posts, documentation (yes, this helps a lot), etc., also helps, not just books!
