I often get asked by clients why RSC are not the cheapest given our size. When one understanding what your competitors are not doing, then the answer to this question becomes easy. 1. RSC is profitable. Forget all the buzz phrases about passion and commitment, at the end of the day a business exist in order to create wealth for its shareholders. Recent published unaudited results from one of our competitors, which is part of a JSE listed company, confirm their busy fools business model again as the year before. 2. RSC only purchase approved materials from certified and reputable mills. We protect our own business and our clients businesses from harm to employees, reputational and financial risk. Cheap steal don't comply and cost less. 3. RSC comply with the OHSE act in both our factories and site works. 4. RSC make sure all our employees and subcontractors get paid at least the min prescribed wage rates. 5. RSC have and maintain proper production factories with well maintained plant and equipment. 6. RSC provide comfort to clients ito stock security being the biggest rebar company in SA with the largest footprint. 7. RSC is the preferred supplier on large fast track projects to deliver and execute on time all the time. The things our competitor don't do, saves them money and make them cheaper. If we all try to be the cheapest, what quality suppliers and subcontractors will be left ? The main contractors will never benefit from a self destructive steel industry, eventually very few good and proper suppliers or subcontractors will remain. I would like to receive comments on the above principle and argument.
