In my experience, while it's not absolutely necessary for a social media manager to have worked directly in hotel operations, it's crucial they understand how each department functions. This knowledge goes beyond merely sharing stories. It's about grasping the best ways to capture and share content without disrupting the daily flow of operations. For instance, knowing the peak times for different departments helps in planning content creation. Whether it’s a bustling front desk during check-in or a quiet moment in the housekeeping department, understanding these nuances allows for smoother, more respectful content capture. It's about respecting the workflow of each department while highlighting the unique aspects of the hotel experience. From my time on the operations side, I've seen firsthand how crucial it is for social media managers to appreciate the intricacies of the business. This insight allows them to create content that truly resonates with both guests and staff, showcasing the hotel in its best light without causing operational hiccups.
