Small GF Expo person event this past weekend solidified in my mind the value of local events to build brand awareness investment ~ $600 (fees, travel, etc) Onsite Orders ~$1500 (highest margin possible on such orders) + collection of ~ 400 email/SMS for follow-up that could lead to another $2k in future orders. So the ROI is already net positive with the key being the collection of email/SMS and protein bar sampling. There are hundreds of such events every summer in the NY/CT area - they are such a great way to build brand awareness. Its critical to collect customer information in exchange for samples. The value is in the DTC LTV - since the initial hurdle of product awareness is not an issue. This is also a great way to get feedback on actual customer needs and product feedback.

Advice Needed: Im considering the possibility of exhibiting at the White Label Expo in the future. This would be for the beauty sector hemp/CBD products. Before I recommend it to my client, I’d love to get some feedback from those who have participated in the past: 1. Exhibitor Experience: How was your experience as an exhibitor? Was the event well-organized and attendee traffic satisfactory? 2. Target Audience: Did you find that the expo attracted the right kind of audience for your products? How were the networking opportunities? 3. ROI: Based on your experience, was the return on investment (ROI) justifiable? Were you able to generate meaningful leads and partnerships? 4. Competitor Presence: How strong was the presence of competitors? Was there a good balance of industries represented? 5. Insights and Trends: Were there valuable insights and trends presented that could benefit a company in the hemp CBD beauty sector? 6. Recommendations: Would you recommend this expo to others in our industry? Why or why not? Any insights you could provide would be incredibly helpful. Over the past weekend, we participated in our first consumer show of 2024 at Planted Expo and the experience was truly unparalleled. As a CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) brand, it is crucial to engage directly with customers, and events like these provide unparalleled opportunities to establish meaningful connections. Meeting customers in person, hearing their real-time feedback, and witnessing their genuine enthusiasm for your products and brand cannot be overstated. We embraced the chance to meet our audience face-to-face and create lasting, positive impressions. The response at the show exceeded our expectations as we showcased our existing products and gave attendees a sneak peek of an upcoming launch. The feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive and we couldn't be happier with how well it went! We had numerous loyal customers visit our booth, share invaluable feedback, and reaffirm their love for Plant Up. It was truly heartening to see their continued support. We also had the pleasure of introducing some skeptical visitors to our products, who confessed to initially hesitating until they tried them at the expo. The power of sampling became evident as they became instant converts and are now enthusiastic about making purchases. This experience served as a great reminder of how sampling can push potential customers to become actual customers. The rush on the first day was thrilling! Despite having a team of just five, we hustled to keep up with the demand. It was a testament to the high demand for our products and the fantastic response we received at the expo. We want to give a huge shoutout to the Planted Expo team for organizing such a seamless event. Event Season...... 1. Can be tiring and overwhelming 2. Stressful 3. Can be expensive for new brands 4. Can put a lot of strain on your team if its small. But...... 1. Some of my best memories in this business happen at events. 2. Some of the best relationships I have - are a result of events. 3. Our team always grows stronger through shared misery :) 4. They allow for our team to come together 5. They are generally a blast 6. You get to conduct business and meet new buyers. At events: - Work Hard. - Be respectful of everyone including other brands. - Be very respectful of buyers and their space. - Buyers be respectful of brands and the hard work they have done. - Don't drink to much :). - Do your best to stand out by thinking through solutions that make your buyers and retail partners' job easier. IE: qr codes on your sales materials that lead to sales sheets and info. - Be respectful and creative with follow up. - Do what you can to add value to the entire community always and it will always be repaid.
