What we have witnessed over the past days is RACISM. We are better than this. Hate crimes are being committed in towns and cities across the country and the use of anti-immigration rhetoric is spreading fear and increasing levels of racial trauma across the country. Employers and organisations, let us not be slow of the mark. Employees of all races, religions and backgrounds will rightly be horrified at what is playing out in their towns and cities. They will require support and safe spaces within the workplace to speak and share their concerns. They require mental health resources as they process what is happening around them. They need you, more than ever, to reinforce anti-racist values within the workplace. To everyone... stay safe and be vigilant at this time. We must protect the integrity of authentic anti-racism but we must above all remain safe. Britain WE ARE BETTER THAN THIS. #AntiRacism #DiversityandInclusion #MentalHealth
Yes, people need support, but we aren't all better than this. The racism that keeps happening unchecked is the evidence. We COULD be better than this, but that takes action and commitment all through society.
Powerful message, Carmen! Organisations must be at the forefront of fostering a culture that not only denounces racism in all forms but also actively works to dismantle it - we deserve better!
That's the thing though Carmen...they ain't This is exactly as good as they are...which is why this is happening This is what denial causes This is what gaslighting causes This is what dog whistling causes This is what using Woke as a perjorative causes This is what a backlash against DEI causes They aren't separate...they are all connected, And this has been happening for years And this is why we are where we are. No, I'm not condoning riots, but they are the racists and islamophobes that have self declared, what about those making decisions about people's careers and lives in offices, and workplaces? I understand and agree with the need for hope, but honestly, what would be even more powerful is to see the world exactly as it is, not as we wish it to be.
Thanks for sharing
