The skyrocketing evictions occurring nationwide are having an impact on people and their beloved pets. Overflowing animal shelters have also become a national crisis. The dip in adoptions along with the rise in dog intake from unclaimed strays and owner surrenders is a complete 180 from the surge in adoptions of dogs and cats we saw during the pandemic. According to Shelter Animals Count (SAC), stray dogs taken in by shelters have risen 6% in the January to November 2023 period compared to 2022 and are up a whopping 22% since 2021! Did you know that children who have spent time in foster care are 3.5x more likely to experience PTSD like that of a war veteran? Placement stability is an integeral part of helping mitigate the affects of trauma children in the foster care system experience. Once healthy stability is achieved, children can begin the process of learning how to form healthy trust-based attachements. This is vital to their healing journey. Keeping sibling groups together, whenever possible, is a monumental part of lessening the overal impact that the trauma of removal can cause for a child. Think about it, even if a child is in a desperate situation and removal is a necessary, they are still being ripped away from all that is familiar to them. For children, routine and control are two extremely important components for healthy development. When children are able to enter into the unknown space of the Child Welfare System and navigate it with their sibling, the trauma that comes with removal can have less severe lasting affects. They have eachother and intimate connection and that gives them a sense of control and safety. I am so excited to see that Christian Bale has discovered this reality and has a passion to help make it possible for siblings to remain together during foster care placement.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY: 2. Ignoring the letter from The Kcmo Fairness Board Chairman & Fairness Committee regarding Civil Rights violations ? Harrasment of minority contractors ? inadequate reporting from Kcmo CREO department ? No Disparity report for 9 years and more ? 2016 Disparity Report below: Department of I think 1.2 minority [participation] and 2.5 WBE [participation], when there was adequate availability of minority and women contractors to meet the City’s standard kind of goal of 15 [percent] and 7 [percent]. They’re diluting the opportunity for minority and women contractors when it comes through the statutory business development organizations, all of whom have different sets of rules..… There ought to be a uniform code that is incorporated in all the development agreements which people in our community never see.… There’s a disconnect. And I realize they’re trying to change some of that now but the insulting part of it was there was more money spent through statutory agencies last year for contracting activities than there were through City departments.… It’s obviously developer driven. By the time we see it the development agreement has already been executed. Caused lack of capital for Jackson County schools and libraries. Mayor Lucas and Insult to African Americans everywhere?

Today marks a breakthrough in our advocacy efforts to Sunshine Coast Council regarding the future of Caloundra Cemetery, and there's more to share! We've uncovered valuable information about Beerwah, Witta, Peachester, and Mooloolah Cemeteries, as well as Tewantin, Cooroy, and Pomona Cemeteries managed by Noosa Council. Special thanks to the staff at Sunshine Coast Libraries and Veronica for capturing the photo. In 1995, Caloundra City Council formulated and adopted a Cemetery Strategic Plan to guide the Council for a 30-year period. A comprehensive report was commissioned, comprising research, future directions and the preparation of the Cemetery Strategy covering 20 years, 2002-2022. It became evident that the challenges facing cemeteries extended beyond the immediate concerns, encompassing social and environmental issues, economic potential, the provision of cemetery and burial services, as well as cemetery layouts and design. Details of the community consultation, including a community forum to assess the current cemetery services and gather perspectives on future requirements, involved representatives from the community, clergy, and the funeral industry. This comprehensive document should play a crucial role in informing the cemetery plan developments for both Sunshine Coast Council and Noosa Council.
