Raising the visibility of women in mid & later life affected by trauma & domestic abuse. I use LinkedIn, my podcast & blog to do this. I am the Domestic Abuse Lead at Age UK national charity, which is not gendered.

This work educates professionals working with older people to ensure those working directly with older people can recognise the subtle signs that an older person may be being subjected to domestic abuse and respond appropriately. We plan to extend this work more widely and collaborate with specialist organisations to embed this messaging and ensure older victim-survivors are visible.’ Please share raising visibilty needs a collective effort #domesticabuseawareness #olderadults #noagelimit

An absolute priority. Too often older people are ignored in domestic abuse provision and planning. Recently came across a domestic abuse risk assessment that was so weighted towards younger people’s experiences that it effectively excluded most over 50s.
