Water 💦 is a requirement of life for people and the planet 🌍. It supports nearly every aspect of our world, serving as a critical resource to sustain our society and economy. This is just as true for companies as for individuals whether it is being used to provide to it’s employees 🚰 , irrigate agriculture 🌱, produce energy 🏭 , or as critical inputs in manufacturing processes 👕 . No water means no business means no society. As is said below, water is a common good meaning that the use of water for one activity leads to lost opportunity costs for another. The use of water to produce a t-shirt by a manufacturing company may mean that same water did not go to irrigating crops that could have provided food for the employees who made the shirt. Responsible stewardship and collective strategies for managing water are critical for the sustainability of society. And this action is beginning to happen as companies quantify their water usage and create strategies to reduce use across the value chain. More is needed, but progress is happening! #wateraction 💧
