At Central Virginia Partnership for Economic Development's Annual Meeting last Friday, we had the privilege of hearing from Chris Lloyd about site selection trends. Unfortunately, Virginia is falling behind some of our neighboring states. Two key takeaways from Chris’s presentation: 1. "If you don’t have product, you won’t have prospects." 2. "Companies want to see you investing in infrastructure." About 10 years ago, I shared this video from Skanska about P3s. It offers a simple and concise explanation of how Public-Private Partnerships (P3s) work and their advantages. For me, it's about speed to market, efficiency, and moving the needle. One nearby locality has effectively leveraged Virginia’s Public-Private Education Facilities and Infrastructure Act of 2002 (PPEA), resulting in significant, dare I say transformative, business growth and investment. Not only have we had the privilege of helping make this locality’s luck, we’ve also improved and enhanced other communities by helping them to achieve their maximum potential through PPEA project delivery.
